This was never a merger or unification. TG bought Champ Car for $10 million dollars and decimated it. The teams chose to go to the IRL after the sale. This is the same IRL that was not successful for the last 12 years with a few cars added.TG's league was on the brink and Honda was out the door before Kalkhoven decided to sellout and save TG's $400 million investment to get control of OW. Nothing has changed and the attendance of the fans has proved it so far.
Long Beach will be great this year. Next year, good luck. Many fans have said the won't return. When the the CC teams take the track in the DP01's at LB, we'll see we had a good OW series that fans loved, what happened?

Very unfortunate for the PCM guys. This unification into one series should have been handled better so that this did not happen, for fans and team owners alike. Unfortunately thought, the split was hurting both leagues and something needed to happen. See http://www.turntwelve.com/blog/index.php/dire...
