Mr. Keisser,

Would you like some cheese to go with your whine? Get out of the past my friend. It's time to look towards the future.

Mr Keisser,

This doesn't sound like it was written by a professional newspaper reporter. It sounds more like a fanatic on a message board, typing on a computer in his mother's basement. Perhaps these are the type of people that the Press-Telegram hire. Perhaps you should realize that these negative articles do nothing for the future of open wheel. Instead they make you look short-sighted, ignorant, and full of sour grapes.

Does your hack newspaper have a spell check ? If so run your headline. That should be enough for you to lose all credibility but the fiction you miss quote as fact should have you sued for libel. "Fans" like you are what have prevented and will continue to prevent open wheel racing from growing now and in the future. Maybe Long Beach should pay the millions to get F1 back if everyone there feels like you. Your arrogance would deserve that of Bernie and his traveling circus, of course your knowledge probably doesn't go back far enough to know Long Beach use to be an F1 race.

Get a grip!!! If this does not take place you would be watching 12 cars racing in your coveted race. TG may not have always done everything right but CART nor CC have either. It was a wealthy man's game of chicken and we all lost. Now we have a chance to bring it back to the promonence the series once enjoyed. TG stepped up to the plate financially and the owners of CC realized this is what needed to happen to save American OW racing. The only hiss that should take place is when you ask for a credential to go to the race.

i'll be doin' some hissing.

you're right, long beach is to great to be a lame duck event

whatever happens

we'll have a good time

and there will be to sweet roar of race cars

vibrating downtown, and yes, we will wait a year until

things get back to normal

we could tell george and his new 'friends'-"for get about it"

and just go back to the beginning,-to the original recipe

One of the most incredibly innacurate and lazy articles I've ever read and I'm no fan of TG.

TG the heir of the "George Family"? You do know that Tony's grandfather was named Anton (Tony) HULMAN, right? This article is full of similar mistakes, and it's pretty clear your understanding of "the split" is rather incomplete. The average internet forum posting about the split is more professionally written than this crap!

The article is spot on. TG ruined open wheel racing and now this years LBGP is going to be a lame duck. No surprise because he wants to punish them for siding with Champcar. For the guys that are complaining about one spelling mistake, get a life and read the damn article.

Sadly, all this is true, Bob. What Champ Car fans now need to do, instead of lamenting the loss we have all suffered, is to turn out at the LBGP in droves to bid a fond farewell to the great series we knew and loved as CART and Champ Car. Then we need to turn around and embrace the reality that having one reconstituted series will be better. 08 won't be great, but it's the first step of the reconstruction the sport so desperately needs. Good luck to us all.

At least get your facts straight. Tony George is not the heir to the George family. He is the heir to the Hulman family. If you are going to take a pot shot at someone, get it right. You are SUPPOSED to be a journalist for goodness sakes. Oh, by the way, spell check BEFORE you post.

Think about it: Anton is the devil. No one wants to see Crapwagons. For 12 years no one bought into it. Why would they buy it now? Unity or not?

Bring on A1GP!!!

With A1GP, you get great racing, an international field without the baggage of hate or animosity, and 24 thundering Ferraris tearing down Shoreline Drive.

(Take some time, and look up A1GP. Seems they are an open wheel series that is going in the right direction.)

Plus, it would be their season finale; great way to market the city to a world wide audience.

And it will go with the tradition of Long Beach switching series.(F5000<F1<CART <ChampCar<A1GP?)

Yeah, if you couldn't figure it out, I hate Tony George and hate MindyCar.

Finally an accurate article. Tony George started the downfall of open wheel racing and now we're supposed to support the idiot. For all you guys that say this merger is good for the sport forget that the irl was no better off than champcar.
Funny that the guy who has been running the indy 500 into the ground is now supposed to be the genius to revive openwheel racing.

OW racing in America was ruined by both, IRL and CART. While George took the initial step of splitting IndyCar, CART has done everything wrong after. Like leaving the ovals and whining about IRL (instead of ignoring).
I don't know where George has got all the money from, he spend to lure away many teams and defeat CART, but at the end, both have lost too much.
If Ecclestone is clever, he will soon spend some millions to buy all the rest of IndyCar and American Open-Wheel racing will be history once and for all.
If not, I'm looking forward to the next split around 2010, when all the team managers in IRL are finally sick of Georges self-aggrandizement and inflexibility.

Tony George destryed OWR out of ego and greed. I have attended every LBGP since 1975. This will be my final LBGP if the irl or Tont George is involved. I would skip this year, but the LBGP will not give refiunds. This year's race will be a joke, after such a great attendance last year. Only 6-10 current CC drivers at most will be going to the irl. Only those drivers will be at LB. 6-10 cars is not a premier event for LB. It is a joke, just like the irl. It is sad that one man has ruined OWR in America, and soon will destroy the LBGP.
