It seems unfair to paint all “believers” with the same brush, especially since some believers are also members of the scientific community. However, I guess if we don’t agree with them we can always burn them at the stake, much the same way that so-called Christians did with people who didn’t share their beliefs. There is no room for tolerance.

It doesn’t matter if the Big Bang was "theorized" (not "known") 5,000,000 years ago, 5,000 years ago, or 5 minutes ago. It is a theory, not a fact. The fact that science continues to evolve is precisely my point. Let’s not forget that there was a time that the treatment for certain illnesses was a good old-fashioned bleeding, yet at the time it was considered to be conventional medicine. I would also suggest to you that 100 years from now, some of the treatments that are practiced today will also be considered barbaric.

Certainly, bad things have been done in the name of religion, usually by twisted people who manipulated others for their own self-interest and had no concept of what Christianity was supposed to be about. I can’t think of a scripture in the New Testament where Jesus condoned this type of behavior, and there are numerous Christian organizations that do a lot of humanitarian work around the world today. Let’s not forget that the Nazis conducted horrible experiments on people in the name of science during World War II, but that doesn’t mean that we condemn all Germans or science in general.

You make some good points.
(Forgive me, but I find that's a tad surprising around here.)
I virtually shake your hand...

Can we also add in the numerous secular organizations that do humanitarian work around the world? Just out of the goodness of their own hearts and minds, and a natural response to their fellow beings, without any prompting from or obedience to, some kind of supreme being?

Thank you, and likewise.

I agree with your comments wholeheartedly. Some of the most decent and generous people that I have the pleasure of knowing, do not believe in religion or spirituality. On the other hand, I know many people who are professed believers, yet you would be hard pressed to find people who were less selfish and self-centered.

Have a great weekend.

I find it rather intersting that people who are not Christians spend so much time on a Christian blog? Can't you take up space somewhere else?

I find it interesting that people who are "christians" can spend so much time reading non christian blogs.
Think of it this way: don't you learn ANYTHING from it?
For instance, the part about it being ludicrous that if 'jesus' was alone in the garden of gethsemane, how in furthest stretch of the imagination were his thoughts and words recorded?
Same thing applies to "moses" writing about "his" own death...
If that doesn't spell MAN-MADE, somebody's got a lot of brainwashing to undo.

We're still waiting for an answer to Imaginary Friend's question....
Did the prayers from all those christians work?
Yes or No?

Must be a tough question....
But it's only a YES or NO answer....
EVADE EVADE EVADE...
Does it take all of you three weeks to present an answer?!?!?!
You all fail the test... it's over - time's up - beep! beep!

They must be pretending they don't know that there was a question asked.
It IS, after all, a very simple answer - it's either
.
Y E S
.
or
.
N O
.
I'll give you a hint: it's not "YES".
Can you answer correctly now?

I'm kind of curious myself as to why people who attend a church (i.e., Springs) that preaches physical healing on this earth and in this life time are not able or willing to step forward and answer Imaginary Friend's question.

The Springs website and their bookstore carry CD's covering the subject, so why won't someone answer the question?

Read some of my prior posts --- I already did answer it. However, my answers aren't exactly a strong endorsement for what is taught at Springs and some other churches that share the same dogma.

Are you a follower of that teaching? If so, perhaps you could enlighten us?

Your contradicting yourself here. On one side you believe that Jesus died on the cross, covered your sins and you are going to heaven. Yet you can't believe that God can heal people even though he says he can. Thats why Christians have faith. If you dont believe that God can heal you how can you believe he can save your soul.

I am a Christian and think it's people like you that give us a bad name.

"Yet you can't believe that God can heal people even though HE SAYS HE CAN."
.
But "he" doesn't. This is the point.
The Renee Dueck story? Hundreds of believing christians were PRAYING TO god. She WASN'T healed.
god lies.
.
End of story.
.
P.S. You don't need anyone else from the "outside" to give you a bad name. christians have done that quite well all on their own for two thousand bloody (and I DO mean 'bloody') years. And they are still doing it, if you would just follow the links above and SEE FOR YOURSELF.
.
Or is that too much to ask?
.
You want the "atheists" outta this blog? OK - your prayer is answered, at least by ME. Not god. Not jesus. ME. This human being will answer your prayer all on his own and be outta here. Since you don't like to hear anything other than you want to hear. And you don't like answering questions that seem to circumvent the idea of god.
.
You can't talk with a REAL "imaginary friend" right here and now, but you "talk" (pray, praise & worship) to the other imaginary friend, who doesn't come through, as promised he will, when prayed to.
.
>WHEW!<
.
The brainwash has been very frightening to witness first hand! I'll add this entire blog to my report on How Christian Belief Keeps Us In The Dark Ages.
Thank you, Former Sucker, for at least trying.

This is getting to be ridiculous. I’ve already resigned myself to the fact that many “believers” don’t bother to read the Bible (not even the New Testament), but it’s also becoming obvious that many of you don’t even bother to read the postings or, even worse, you twist them into something that suits your own personal belief system that is not rooted in truth or fact.

Have it your way. You follow a false dogma at your own peril.

By the way, we're still waiting for an answer from you people.

Wahhhh! I don't wanna have t' fess up and admit that there IS no doubt a discrepancy about the Renee Dueck story. Wahhhh! I don't wanna face it and admit that even though hundreds of christians were praying, there was NO HEALING from god or jesus. Even though they promise it. Wahhh! I'll have to get my brain to make up some lame excuses to circumvent the reality...'cause I don't wanna answer "NO" to the question that all the christians on this blog are avoiding. They sure have enough to say (not that much of it makes sense) about everything else, but - Wahhhh!- Not when the going gets tough. Or their god is exposed as a liar. Or, at the very least, admit that whoever wrote the words that PROMISE healing when you pray for it was putting you on.
I'm gonna go and bury my head in the sand and hope this all just blows over. Then I won't have to make any painful admissions, or take any responsibility in admitting, even to myself, that something is DEFINITELY amiss in the "pray/get healed" promise of "god"...
Maybe I can say "god works in mysterious ways" or "we can't know the ways of god" or one of those excuses - but no, that still doesn't answer the fact that god's promise of healing,(here and now, not later in some afterlife you'll notice if you read the promises made in John), did NOT happen in the Renee Dueck story. All the while being aware that HUNDREDS of CHRISTIANS were PRAYING to GOD and JESUS with all their BELIEF and FAITH and HEARTS and SOULS for MANY MONTHS. But it didn't happen.
Wahhhh! I don't wanna know about this. It makes god a liar. It makes the "word of god" a lie. It makes the bible fallible. My bible is NOT the perfect word of god. Wahhh!
Maybe I'll go church THREE times this week, and even though no answers will be found there, I can at least hide these thoughts and get transported away into the hypnotic bliss of vacant words.
Your loss.

You can tell that the above post is not really from me (Worship or Warship), as "forgiveness" is spelled wrong.
