Shows how much outsiders know. Sure, they can point to a bridge or building. The Fisher Building and Fox Theater make the list and the Joe Louis Fist doesn't? What the dilly-yo?

What about the old Train station. Was beautiful in its day. Too bad they are going to tear it down. Also St. Ann's church. It is the oldest church in Detroit.

The because the fist is ugly, ugly, ugly. Joe Louis should have been honored with a statue of the whole man - like Gordie's at the Joe!

True enough. The fist is the subject of ridicule. The point is that most people in Detroit know about the fist. Detroit in general is the subject of ridicule.

There are so many landmarks in the city that are worth seeing. This book has thousands of photos and many of them include Detroit landmarks. http://detroit138squaremiles.com/julia-reyes-...

That fist is a joke and a clear message being sent about "black power." I agree about an entire body statue.

Though, not quite a landmark, the Henry Ford Museum would be a general display of Detroit's history.

That train station was beautiful in its day. If I hit the lotto before they tear it down, I'd have it restored.
