This is hard for all of us. I knew the family well and those boys were my whole world. To the people who are talking trash on the truck driver, who are sick. I will miss that family forever. They were closer than friends to me. They were my second family. But I don't feel that it's right to be blaming the trucker. I can't imagine why Pete would cross that line, but he did. The trucker seemed to do everything he could to avoid it. I feel bad for him because he now has to live with it the rest of his life. My heart goes out to the rest of the family. But Pete, Connie, Alex, and my little man, I will miss you all so much.

I lost 2 very close people in my life and their 2 daughters fought for their lives in a very similar accident in Sept. My prayers go out to this family. God bless you all.

No Kathy, this is a perfect example of what a forum is for. A discussion on mixing truck and vehicle traffic on secondary roads, when a safer Interstate route is available, is a valid subject of discussion.
If the truck was off the Interstate to make a local delivery, then it is an unfortunate accident. If he were indeed off the Interstate to avoid weigh stations and tolls, then there is a serious problem and that needs to be discussed also.
If you think Interstates are safer then you have never driven on I 75, I 95 and the mother of all nightmare interstate highways I 4. All are here in Florida. The reason he was on that road is immaterial. With the price of gas being what it is who among us would not take a route to avoid putting out more money on tolls if they can. The truck driver is not in any way at fault so give it up.

This morning downstate on Route 9W a woman went over the yellow line into the path of a tractor trailer causing a head on. The driver is from Canadiagua, Ontario Co., NY. So are you going to hate New Yorkes also. The woman was injured. The truck driver is not at fault.

I loved them so much. Pete was like a big brother to me. I babysit the two boys for the last year and on and off since Alex was a baby. Connie helped everyone out no matter what. My feel bad for my other cousin that lived with them now is out of a home also. I don't blame either one of them. I don't understand the saying that everything happens for a reason because I don't understand what reason could possible would need for this to happen. But it did. And none of us can take it back. This morning it felt like a dream I got up and had to double check to make sure it wasn't. To the people that think it's the drive of the semi it isn't his fault. The news paper says that he tried to avoid and couldn't go no where there was a guardrail. To Pete, Con, and the boys I love you and god bless your souls.
I know this might not sound right but in some way be glad the boys died with them. I will miss them don't get me wrong but it would of been hard to explain to them what happened to mommy or daddy. I wish they would all have lived through it but I guess that don't matter what I wished for because nothing can change what happened.
to the rest of my family and to their friends we are strong we will make it through this.
Just remember to live life slowly but live to the fullest.
