That's so funny. In 1975 when i owned a vineyard in the Niagara region, after reading Silent Spring, I switched to non herbicide use by using a mechanical device and tried less toxic pesticides. My neighbor who had an apple orchard was reluctant to even listen to me and my wild ideas back then.

Yup, you guessed it! Most farmers I approached with my theories and warnings, laughed in derision at me.

They were quick to come out with the old standard:

"What are you smokin', boy?"

I always told told them "mind expanding pot." They laughed even more. I was usually well liked for this. They said that I was a real funny guy, always good for a laugh.

Turns out I still am!
