VICTORIA,VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C. CANADA
SKY QUAKES
THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE OMINOUS SOUNDS WE HEARD @ THE SOUTHERN END OF VANCOUVER ISLAND, ALL LAST SEPT. 2009. WE CHECKED WITH THE EARTHQUAKE SEISMEC CENTRE & THEY HAD NO RECORDINGS OF ANY EARTHQUAKE ACTIVITY, BUT, THEY SAID THEY HAD RECEIVED PHONE CALLS, FROM ALL OVER THE ISLAND & THE VANCOUVER MAINLAND. WE LIVE ON THE OCEAN FRONT & THESE OMINOUS RUMBLINGS LAST FOR 30-60 SECONDS. THEY SOUND EXACTLY LIKE A SKY QUAKE. THE LAST RUMBLINGS WE'VE HEARD WERE FEB. 3, 2010 @ 7:15PM & 8:15PM (PAC. STND. TIME) THESE ARE SO UNNERVING.THESE PAST TWO RUMBLINGS WERE THE WORST WE'D EVER HEARD. POSSIBLY DUE TO THE COLD WINTER AIR. OUR DOGS REACT BY RUNNING AROUND NERVOUSLY. IT IS OBVIOUSLY VERY STRESSFUL, TO THEM. OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER, THE TIMES COLONIST, AFTER LOOKING INTO IT, LAST SEPT. 2009, SAID IT WAS FROM A NEW TYPE OF AMERICAN JET, TAKING OFF, FROM AN AMERICAN AIR FORCE BASE @ WHITBY ISLAND, WASHINGTON STATE.
IF THIS IS HAPPENING IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD, THERE MUST BE SOME OTHER EXPLANATION FOR THESE OMINOUS, UNNERVING RUMBLINGS?? I SURE HOPE SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, CAN COME UP WITH A LOGICAL ANSWER.

Thanks for the link! Great article and interesting comments.
The fighter jet theory is possible but I don't know. Now, I'm not an airplane or sound wave expert, but like some people say in the comments of that article, I also do not think that's it. I was at Uvic today, standing outside a building with more buildings and trees surrounding it. How could I still hear the noise as clear as I always as if I were home, close to the beach...?
I have heard this quite a bit, and it is annoying. My husband believes it is bombers. I am alarmed that bombers are permitted to overfly Victoria.

For the past week I have been hearing these very low and deep rumbling noises that seem to be coming from the sky. I'll also mention right away that I know these are not jumbo jets way, way up high. I know what that sounds like. I've only been hearing this for the past week (and a half). It's not coming from one area either.
I notice this happening almost daily. It is impossible to tell where exactly it's coming from. It's like thunder, but very subtle, low, deep, constant and lasts for about 40 seconds to a minute. Sometimes it can be so noticeable that even small objects in my house vibrate...
I live in the Cordova Bay area, which is where I notice it the most simply because I'll be at home, but today at Uvic while working I heard it once and it definitely got my attention.
Again, this is the very first time in my life I've been hearing these noises and I know they're not planes because 1) You can't tell where the rumbling is coming from. 2) Even though sometimes a high flying jet cannot be seen but only heard, you can tell almost exactly whereabouts in the sky it might be and 3) This rumbling I'm hearing (and hopefully you too) is SIMPLY NOT AN AIRPLANE.
Small earthquakes perhaps? Signs of a big one coming soon? Maybe it's a warning of some other natural disaster? I'm not scared but am I curious.

I live in Queens in New York City. I hear these low rumbling noises between 5:00AM and 5:30AM EST. The noise is EXACTLY as heard here on this YouTube clip of an "emission" in the game STALKER.

That low rumbling in the first half of the clip.

It is a noise that seems ambient. It does not come from a car or anything like that. What on earth is this noise?

I am ten miles from JFK Int'l Airport and about 5 miles away from LGA. I have heard the sounds of airplanes flying overhead before and those noises are directional: I can place them in physical space.

This rumbling noise though is unusual in that it appears to be coming from the sky itself, as if it were thunder.

Oh, for clarification, the sound is usually there for less than a minute. Most of the time it fades away, and then comes back another two or three times, up to five times within that half hour period.

It's 5/2/2010 and I've been hearing similar sounds off and on for about the last 30 mins now.
I'm in California and These only seem to last about 3-6 seconds but keep coming every 10 or so seconds.
If anyone's still viewing this, I'm kinda nervous, is this the sign of an earthquake?
BTW, no objects are shaking.

There are very large spaceships that the US Government has, some ranging over 1 mile in length. They make no sound when moving as they have anti-gravity propulsion. However, ships of this size would obviously cause a lot problems if they were seen, so they must be shielded from our view. The sound you hear is the sound that is generated from the shielding technology that hides these spaceships from our sight.

I heard it in the middle of the night a few nights ago... funny how I only seem to hear it in the nighttime and not in the daytime... anyway whenever I hear it, I worry that it's an earthquake, or that the Earth is getting swallowed into a black hole caused by the Large Hadron Collider over in Europe... though I think that's not gonna happen until December 21, 2012...

2:30am - Mesa, AZ. It sounded like thunder, but was not irregular like thunder. Sounded kind of like a rocket engine firing up. Lasted for about five seconds and repeated every 30 to 60 seconds for about 15 minutes. I could hear it inside my house. Very strange. First time I've ever heard it.

I've been hearing the same sounds and i'm in Brisbane, Australia. They last up to about 1 minute, I know it's not a plane because the sound is very constant.

Hearing it tonight in White Rock area, B.C. It sounds sort of like thunder, but you can also tell it is not; the pattern seems wrong somehow. Plus we have a totally clear sky. For sure it is not planes!

There is blasting outside of our house here in Langford, BC. It shakes the house like a strong earthquake. I wonder how much these blasts, jets and earthquakes will impact Vancouver island. We have been pretty damned invasive here on this little slice of Canadian heaven called Vancouver Island.
The earth is probably really annoyed at humans as it is, we have been pissing it off a LOT this past year.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I live in Southern California and we have been hearing this low rumble all week. Tonight it started again and its almost 12 midnight here.
Someone mentioned that they thought it was ELF technology at work. I don't know what it is but it's not bomb or artillery testing. Not at 12 midnight!
It's starting to really concern me since I have no idea what it is.
