You hate Victoria because you are a loser and you blame it on Victoria. You must have been dropped on your head not to understand that most people like Victoria and if you don't thats your problem.
Besides that I'll bet you have never lived in Alberta, so you don't know what you are talking about.

Only the most resilient prosper when time are tough. Social scientists have identified the practical factors necessary to cultivate resilience as outlined in the YouTube video, "How to Flourish and Endure in a Challenging World."

This is a post that is not just interesting, but also useful too. The others are interesting, and some are just crazy like Victoria. This seem very closely related to the Law Of Attraction, The Secret.

If you have ever lived in Northern Alberta like I have for a long time, you would know about the very long cold winters with snow starting in October and still there is April. We even had snow on May 24th weekend as I remember. The growing season is barely 60 days. Lots of big fat mosquitoes so even when you can finally can sit outside, you get eaten to death. Now why would you ever hate Victoria which is the land of eternal spring?

The same cliche about how good Greater Victoria weather is always hauled out as an excuse to reinforce Victoria attractiveness. This is because Victoria has very little else to offer, that is good except weather. The economy and jobs are so cheap, it is a good thing the weather is nice. You will appreciate that as you live broke poor out in the wide open spaces, in your cardboard box, under the sky. You did say you want to be closer to nature, didn't you? Victoria and BC pay you a lot less while charging you a lot more. Remember that.

The reason why the pay is low here as there are a lot of Canadians trying to move here to escape the cold winters. Employers can get people to work for low wages because it is easy to find employees who will take the jobs. I guess you would call this the" law of supply and demand". If no one would be willing to work for low wages then employers would have to pay more to keep people.

You are obviously right. Employers everywhere pay what they have to to attract and keep the workers they need. If wages are lower here than in AB or SK its because people come here for reasons other than money. I have lived in both SK and AB so I know why they have to pay higher wages to attract people there.
I have tried several times to explain this to the loser but he doesn't get it.

Bring your own money, friends, family to Bring Cash, BC. The west coast Canada is just as inbred, closed, depressed, defeatist as east coast Maritimes. West coast is only slightly less inbred and a bit more sophisticated that east coast Canada.

Oh yeah sure, Victoria employers are not more cheap and greedy. The news media released a story about the McDonalds Resraurant franchisee owner of Pandora Avenue, Douglas Street locations being under investigation for taking advantage of the foreign temporary worker program. The Federal Government of Canada alleges the owner is over working and under paying the foreign workers. I think proves Greater Victoria employers are more cheap and greedy.

I believe the foreign workers program should be stopped completely.
Why are you so concerned about McDonald's and such employers? Is that the kind of job you want and can't get?
Fast food jobs are for high school kids, college kids, and retirees who need to supplement their OAS benefits.

I don't care at all about fast food jobs except if I am really bored and want a PT side job. I wouldn't even eat their fast food if they offered it to me for free on the job. I don't want to grow big, fat, and resemble the cows that is in their products. I get a kick out of seeing crap employers get taken apart publicly and then crash and burn. That is why I tell everyone about www.ratemyemployer.ca . The more pain and hassles the current and past workers can cause the dirt bag employers, the better. I would like to see them writhing in agony on the floor. Perhaps, after McDonalds Canada cuts off this franchisee, the owner only can go independent and start another franchise called "Cheapo's", LOL!

Cheapo's sounds about the right name for the new restaurant. The staff are cheaper than the crap they sell! Hah!

The power of the Internet and all the various social media sites give ordinary people some measure of Public Relations power they didn't have in the pre Internet days. People can attack and counter attack reputations, names, histories to even the score against those who abuse them in any way. People and organizations can not hide all their dirt as easily as they could in the past. Advertising and propaganda is pretty much the same thing for different purposes.

I would never go back to the days of older technology. The Internet services makes it possible for every person to reach 100s, 1000s, 10000s of people in an instant with their goods, services, and ideas. The old days meant bad employers can use the restricted and limited access to knowledge to divide and conquer, suppress, or trick people more easily.

Anyone who can use all the various forms of media to manipulate and use public relations tactics to steer the masses towards any belief system, mold their opinions, and get whole lot of people to follow down any path of action, can't be stupid and retarded. Low IQ people could barely navigate a wet paper bag.

I agree that low IQ people are barely functional. It can be very frustrating working with or dealing with them in any capacity. You will just end up doing your work and their work too. Too many non functional people in any city will be a drag on its economy and politics. It doesn't matter what city you are in, money is king or at least it should be.

Only some really dumb dumb people would willingly turn down any opportunity to earn or make millions, billions plus in money wealth. Non profit is not very profitable or effective. You can't help anyone else or yourself without money. With enough money you can have almost anything for your wish, a walking, talking wishing well. Money is not the root of all evils, only the excessive, unreasonable love of money is the root of all evils. You can like money and still remain clean if you don't go too crazy and without reason.

There is not much prospects when people are socially cold and don't like wealthy prosperity.
