You and your imaginary friend may have erectile dysfunction, but most of us are doing just fine in that department.
I guess its all part of being a loser. When you can't get your life to work, other things don't work either. There are pills for your problems. Ask your Doc.

I have a Victoria brother who visited a sister in Calgary AB. He found the Calgary people to be polite, happy, sociable, content, grateful, cheerful, full of life. He returned to Victoria BC with the sister and found the people of Greater Victoria to be: dead inside, dull, cranky, bitchy, fake, miserable, rude, ungrateful, dark, and gloomy. It was sunny in Calgary than Victoria. Victoria can kiss it reputation for being sunny and warm good bye. The weather maybe usually warmer in Victoria, but the people are colder than Calgary people. They wouldn't move back to Victoria to live again if they didn't still have family in Victoria.

That "family" excuse is lame. Lots of people leave their families. I left mine when I was 17.

The Black Press newspapers interviewed some official from the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce (Economic Development Agency) and Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin. They both said a lot more work needs to be done to bring good paying job growth to the region. Everything is lagging behind the economy numbers. They only look good on reports and not in actual fact. The Greater Victoria job market is under performing. The only industrial area that is growing respectably is the video gaming, high tech studios. That is not enough to make up for the other industries dumping jobs left and right. The jobs that do get created are the cheap, low end quality, underemployment jobs. The bad part is that even the low end jobs in Alberta, Saskatchewan pays more than BC (Bring Cash).
If I had read any of these Victoria forum before, I would have brought my family fortune and friends with me. I was not informed ahead of time. BC wants my money, your money, more than they actually want you. They should advertise more truthfully, "send your money, but you can stay home".

Nobody is 100% on top of all information all the time. There are always some leakages in one's knowledge. It is just unfortunate that you didn't get your needed knowledge about Victoria at the right time. You made your decision at the time based on the best available info on hand. Just don't make the exact same mistake multiple times.

People move to the west coast to escape the cold winters in the rest of Canada. Many are coming hoping for the best and try to find work. There are too many well educated people here chasing too few jobs. I think it has always been like this in Victoria as we moved here in 1980. We only survived by starting our own business. We also brought some money with us from Alberta to start with.

No kidding? I learned now never to relocate long term to Greater Victoria unless it is absolutely necessary. If one has many friends, much money, and everything else in some other province or city other than BC, Victoria, then it is not necessary to relocate. Other than warmer weather, there is not much else to be captivating. I would rather not be under socialized and under financed in the warmer outdoors. It would still feel cold.

Relocating to Victoria to partake in the employment lack, fight like crazy for table scraps, cold arrogant social scene has got to be one of stupidest decisions anyone could make. You will have more jobs, money, friends in some other Canadian major city with a better culture. The sad tragic thing is that most of the Greater Victorians are too clueless and mental to realize they are clueless and mental. Do you really want to join them? Who are you? What do you want? Do you have anything to live for?

If Victorians were all like you it would be a sad place indeed. Fortunately that is not the case.

Of course it is the same old shit, repeat. This is Greater Victoria which is quote "so limited in all things", that we can't even pull out some new material to complain with. There is not much material to work with here in Victoria, huh? We can't just pull stuff out of our butts to tag onto the forum. We are not magicians. Our imaginations don't extend that far.

I just added a new twist on complaining about the Greater Victoria, such as birds flying around in the sky and shitting on freshly washed cars at shopping malls. That has no mention of Victoria social life, jobs, economy, politics. Take a look at Topix On Victoria.

It is our opinions that Victoria is a good place to live if you happen to bring your own job, money, family, and friends with you. You will not find any.

When you look for friends in Victoria, try to meet others who have moved here from elsewhere. Locals donot want or need new friends as they have lots. Money is also important to bring with you or some unique skills that no one else has to help you earn a living. Good jobs that pay well are really hard to find. It is probably best to be a tradesman. Even tradesmen usually end up in Ft. McMurray trying to make a good living.

You don't have to try too hard to meet people from elsewhere in Victoria. If you get out there and mix and mingle every other person you meet is from elsewhere. Thats why they love it here so much - they know the difference!
And the locals are not that hard to get to know from my experience. If you are friendly and likable you have no problem. My two sons who are "locals" have made friends with several guys and gals who are not from here originally.
This complaint about Victoria being "cliquey" comes from people who have come here from much larger cities and are having problems adjusting to a smaller city. I have lived in both so I know the difference. Some people obviously can't make the adjustment.

The jobs and wages suck. No money also doesn't encourage people to get out and socialize when they are barely surviving with low wages and high expenses. The Victoria economy and social culture is not conducive towards joyous, enthusiastic, excitement. It's as you say, limited in Greater Victoria in all things.

Were you dropped on your head as a child? You have been drinking the
Victoria CRD cult kool aid too much. Other Victorians like myself would be out of here if other factors didn't lock us in here. It is true that BC, Victoria has a culture of poverty and anti success. People like you enjoy Lowered Expectations.
