So what if it is? The trashing Victoria BC Canada forum is far more popular with a larger following than any other Victoria forum. It is all about market shares and readership. The more readers means more audience to spoon feed them anything you want. It is nothing personal, just business. Morality and ethics are irrelevant, just market shares, by hook or by crook.
Is that why you are here spouting nonsense about Victoria? Because you are getting paid to do it? Must be a very meager income. But, I guess when your MOM is paying all the expenses..... That leaves you just enough to support your crack habit.

Ah yes, capitalism is the best social political system we have up to this point in human history. It is far better, opportunistic, tactical, and morally or ethically adjustable than any other system that came before.

" Money talks and bullshit walks in all things. Life is a bitch if you are not rich."

That's right, and that's why all the whiners and snivelers on here are walking and bitching. They think somebody owes them a high paying job. Capitalism doesn't work that way.

Victoria is a hole for the most part. Those people who want to move to Greater Victoria to look for work and make or earn some money, buy houses, condos should be discouraged from moving there for their own good. If they are already independently rich and free from need to work and earn money, those people can freely move to Victoria. Those people are immune to the Victoria societal bullshits.

It depends. If they are losers like you then they certainly shouldn't come here.
As far as the "hole" comment goes, Victoria is the best "hole" they can find. That's why they don't leave.

The real reason why people who moved to Greater Victoria and don't want to leave is because they can't leave. The other Victorians who were here originally leave for other places. They didn't do their homework research about cheap pay jobs and high costs. They spent all the money and time to move out of Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and others, then they get stuck when the money is all gone. They will find the job market is even shittier than other parts of Canada and the expenses will drain them. They get stuck in a economic prison loop.

That is nonsense. Anyone who can't even get it together to leave here is certainly not going to make it anywhere else.

The whiners and snivelers are all local losers who would never make it anywhere else and they know it. They exist, but they are few in number. I know a lot of people, of all ages, people born here, and people who have come here from elsewhere - like me - and none of them are unhappy with Victoria.

Sure, everywhere has all sorts of problems and imperfections. It's just Victoria has more of these. This reminds me of the James Bond 007 movie theme song from Die Another Day. I would change the lyrics to "Die A Little Every Day" just for Victoria BC, especially for the region.

Wow what a great weekend in beautiful Victoria. The Busker festival, all the hot cars at the DUCE Festival on a sunny warm weekend. So many wonderful free events. And the weather, rainy with thunder storms in many parts of Canada. Nothing but sun, sun, sun here in Victoria.
Such nice weather to be grateful for.

If you don't like it here in Victoria join one of the many organizations to change what you don't like or move. Kind of simple really.

If I didn't like a place as much as some of the people on here I would move. Really why would you stay in a place that you have so many complaints about.

What is that old saying "Either put up or Shut up"

Nothing but sun, sun, sun - you are selling your crap to the wrong people. Come October, right through until May, Victoria is under a dull, grey, drizzly sky, with barely any sunlight. It's the drabbest of drab existences on the planet. In London it is said to rain a lot, but at least there are things to do there, excitement in the air. Victoria, for all it's magnificent beauty in nature, is dull and dead, full of people with no money who can only afford to participate in free things, always looking for freebies. Sad really!

You have to get out of your Mom's basement if you want to see the sun and find things to do. LOL

Move to Toronto. They get more rain than Victoria plus an average of 52 inches of snow - and fewer hours of sunshine!

Oh come on, every place in Canada has lousy weather in the winter. And it does rain more in Ontario, it's just we get it all at once usually in the winter.

I always seem to find lots to do in any season. Sure the rain sucks but it doesn't last forever.

I don't always participate in free events and don't always look for freebies, shesh you are sooooo negative. Victoria has so many free events so why not participate in them.

It must suck to be such a complainer. Clearly you complainer types would not be happy anywhere.

I know many ex victorians who moved to Ontario and Alberta to make better money and actually have a wealthier life. The ones who stayed behind in Vic BC are depressed, angry, frustrated, and these ones are the ones from the wealthier families. The ones from the poorer families can add destitute and desperate to the list. All those friendly Victorians you see are just superficially acting in front of your face. The true happy people in Victoria are the visitors; the locals are very artificial and superficial.
Yes please, go ahead and run for the hills and "make better money and have a wealthier life" -- IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT. For many of us, money isn't the main driver for where we choose to live and what we do...quality of life is and it's fine here thank you very much. For some who've written and used their total vocabulary of critical and abusive words, maybe that's why you find some Victorians to be cold, anti-social and unwelcoming TO YOU...look in the mirror and think about your attitude before you judge others.

Dear Phaedria, As an aging Baby Boomer I apologize for reaping your blood sweat and tears. May I humbly suggest you explore the U.Penn. website, authentichappiness(dot)org
and if you have infinite patience, the book, "Flourish" by Dr.Martin Seligman. Both sources will expose you to scientific ways to develop your talents and strengthen your resilience under pressure. Greater levels of happiness are another benefit. "Who Am I?" by S.Reiss is another gold mine of information.

Of course we all want more quality. Millions or billions buys a lot more quality of life than being in a poor and limited region like Victoria. Victoria is one of those places where someone can spend insane money to get better trained and put on lots of debt so you can go back to work at an inferior job that only requires high school or less in the first place. Your angry defensive counter comment means you can't handle the ugly truth intruding in your Victorian fantasy. Many who stayed in or left Victoria would agree.

A key problem with the Victoria region is that everyone is in constant repeating retraining one after another. The end result is that nothing really happenings at the end. Your training money and time is gone and you are still back at the beginning repeating loop. This is a majority lingering problem with Victoria economics and a source of why Victoria rated negatively, compared to Calgary, Toronto, Saskatoon, and others. That isn't training for a future, just a babysitting service and a holding tank. People get fed up with the system and leave with their talent and potential to help other cities that appreciate them.

That's nonsense. I know a girl who recently took a one year training program and immediately got a job at $25 an hour. That's just one example.
You have to train for something that there is a demand for.
