If you come to Victoria don't ever work for Power Measurement limited ( AKA Schneider Electric ) they are the most unprofessional company I've ever worked for.

it's victorias population of bums living on the streets all day and night driving way americans who are used to traveling to places that are clean and safe.

lock up the bums at 2 week interverals of hard labor....if they won't work they don't eat...

then let them out with a warning if they're spotted anywhere again their going to be back in jail for 2 weeks hard labor..

do this as many times as it takes to;

a] staighten them out so they go get a job..

b] they leave town and become a problem for the next city who hopefully uses the same method to get rid of them...

these troublemaking bums are more useless than a cockroach and should be given no consideration, most are;.. ex cons..active criminals..petty criminals...thieves...drug dealers..drug addicts...phycotics...alcoholi cs... aggressive anti- socials... and anti-establishment societal rebels of every kind!!!

you keep feeding strays they'll never leave.

quit pandering to this scum you liberal twits!!!

Americans can't afford to pay attention right now. They are going through a finacial crisis and can't pay for gas or food, forget traveling somewhere for a weekend.

Homeless people are not in their position because they wish to live in the streets. They have mental issues or drug issues.

Fortunately for you, you have been lucky enough to be able to live under a roof. Unfortunately, you have no compassion. There are humane ways to help the poor and homeless. Because someone needs help doesn't mean they are lazy.Sometimes it is all they know.

you need to check your history..

this so-called homeless problem we see trotted out every night on the news is the latest liberal cause that didn't exis until libeeralism became rampant in north america starting in the 1960's..

thats when the existing problem of bums on evey steet corner didn't exist...

vagrants were jailed for 2 weeks at hard labor, and then they very quickly decided to straighten out or leave town...

this idea that they're all mentally ill or helpless drug addicts is no more valid now than it was then when there was less social services to deal with them...

it'stime to erase the 1960's liberal mentality and clean up the streets...

i worked for a social services agency and i know most [ i didn't say all},most of the people living on the streets CHOOSE to live there, they need to be dealt with as per my earlier posting.

those that are mentally ill need to be helped.{if they want it},if not, they need to be institutionalized at any rate, for their protection and societys...

drug addicts need to be cleaned up,and/or institutionalized if they won't conform to a decent lifestyle...

you don't seem to understand what an unsavory lot these so-called homeless are i say so-called because as i stated most are not victims of a fire and would not live in a home if they had a chance to...

to have visitors to our country and citizens accosted ,molested and subjected to the sights sounds and criminal behavior of this elelement is a sign of the decadence heralded in by the social revolution of the 1960's

time to get tough..liberals don't mind the killing of the unborn ,but go all out to protect bums and whales...

time to get tough and clean up the mental and physical mess the hippie generation created!

but no more

What barrel did you crawl out of? Homelessness was not a problem before the 60's??? Please accept my apologies! I didn't know you had a learning disability or that you have been kept in some weird alternate reality.
I have worked with homeless people and abused children. Many of these people are not right minded. They have been raised in a different world than you and I(I know Victoria, I was raised there)
I come back to visit every couple of years and I was surprised at the number of homeless people. But the way to solve it not "hard labour". There are many methods available, and you blaiming it on Liberalism is just putting a face you don't like on a problem. I could do the same by saying it is the greed of the right that has caused this problem. But it's an issue that everone should work together on. There are good people from all sides with reasonable solutions.

Get off your high horse(more like rocking horse)

i've given you the solution but you seem too brainwashed or whatever to see it...there was alwys bums ,vagrants, hobos or this new age politically correct term homeless people...

listen..a homeless person is someone whos had their house destroyed in a fire or flood ,or been evicted...and they don't live on the streets for 20 or 30 years living on handouts and hardworking peoples tax dollars their whole lives, they get themselves another dwelling...

i have worked in mental health care, and nobody i trated in all these years had to live without a place to sleep unless they wanted to..

my mother has worked 25 years in psychiatric clinics also and can tell you the same thing..

you need to forget the b*llsh*t you've been force fed from the cradle, first by a liberal education system, and then the liberal press...i know what i'm talking about ,i've seen it firsthand for years and i know the change in the social structure and social order of north america has allowed this decadent situation with the two legged rats that infest our once clean citys to increase...

you give me charge of cleaning up the so-called homeless population from victoria and it'll be gone as fast as the police can round tham up,and put them where they belong..rehab...psyc.wards...j ail...after that if they continue to end up back on the streets they're going to stay institutionalized in once place or another, and don't say we can't afford it we always have space for criminals, and money to send to africa, and waste on other useless liberal causes...

time to reverse the left-wing damage.

Just because you have a family toilet cleaning business in a mental health facility doesn't mean your an expert. It's not a stretch after reading your posts to know you haven't benefited from higher education, your not fooling anyone.
I don't see the sense in continuing this insult festival with you. So go ahead return my post, I'll read it and won't reply to your inane rantings anymore.
Go clean some toilets

typical liberal/left response...

i've seen i over and over and over...

the personal attack when someone doesn't cave-in to your new age femminized view point ....

let me tell you something ...

what i wrote about was being done 40 years ago and we didn't have the human vermin lying around our city streets using drugs{which is illegal on its own}and no enforcement is done...

because of all the bleeding heart liberals bleeting on the news hour every night we have one problem after another in this country, and no enforcement of even existing laws..

its time some men that still have a pair ,took back the authority and sent the woman back to look after the home and children like they'd been doing for the last 10,000 years, and leave the running of the country up to the men...

we know how to do more than talk, and discuss, and study every friggin activity...

there's a time to act and a time to talk...

nows the time to act...

restore culture in victoria..

clean the human rubbish up!!!!!!!!..

"the personal attack when someone doesn't cave-in" You started this crap with attacks on Liberals. Now you want to claim higher ground?
You must be joking.
BTW my wife has always stayed at home and Home Schools our children, she runs the youth group at our church and we are very involved with the less fortunate in our community. We also work with abused children. She was the Vice-President of the very right wing Home School group and they know her political viewpoints. Our oldest started college at 17 made the Deans list and is focused. All our kids(8) know they will attend College or University.

How do you impact your community? I bet you yell at the neighbourhood kids for stepping on your lawn. In fact I bet you do a lot of yelling and people avoid your company. I feel sorry for your family.

There goes your friggin Liberals theory. We

The homeless people in Victoria is just a consequence of living in such a beautiful city. It doesn't take much to figure out why there aren't any homeless people in Winnipeg. They know the climate is outstanding here so it makes it an easy place to live and enjoy, even if you're down and out.

As for things to do...there's SO much to do!! Trails, mountains, rec centers, public parks, oceanfront, kayak rentals, beaches, skygazing, skiing, movies, tourist attractions...I can go on. It's true we lack a lot of non-athletic based indoor activities (we only have one bowling alley in Sidney and a couple pool halls) but isn't that a good thing? If you're lazy, Victoria isn't the place for you. You'll probably get bored. But if you appreciate your health and enjoy the outdoors, this place is fabulous!

I feel bad for anyone who moved away and can't afford to move back. It's a shame that it's so expensive to live here. But there's a reason for that. Anyone want to argue that this place isn't paradise? How can you explain the cost of living out here? It's not because of the government. It's supply and demand and living in Victoria is in high-demand.

As for the "newly-wed or nearly dead" saying, that may have been true back in the 60's perhaps when this was primarily a military city, but things have changed. There is a huge population of all age ranges. And the elderly population is concentrated mainly in Sidney. You get into Victoria and it's full of diversity. It's such an old saying that anyone still using it is from the old-school themselves, or someone told it to them and they're too ignorant to make their own decision about whether or not it's true.

Ahhhhhh, thank you for your perspective. I grew up in Sidney. 60's to mid-80's. I was back recently. It's different, but I like it.

There are no great paying jobs available in Vic. So how do people afford a big mortgage, car payments, utilities, visa bills and so on? And with real estate costs so high, after they pay all that, they have nothing else left to live on, and never can afford to leave the island. Even going to Vancouver for a weekend is really expensive by the time you factor in ferry costs, hotel expenses and the cost of eating out all weekend. Vic is a nice place to visit, maybe even nice to live to be surrounded by nature, but when there's no money...you'd have no life.

@Paul, WA - yeah, trot your "uniformed service" thing out. I'll put my naval career to date - all 19 years of it - up against yours. Just because the American administration is causing the troops to get involved in foreign wars doesn't mean they're doing it for anyone other than their own interests.

most of the big money to buy houses say at over 2 milion is not mortgaged, cash usually.
A lot of seniors are not poor , insurance from dead spouses , inheritances etc.
Sellin' the farm in sakatchewan etc.
Locals have great difficulty even affording a apt. condo.
Come with buckets of cash( credit) if moving here.
