The Winter Olympics are likely gonna get rained out, the aboriginal "types" will riot and burn down the city, toss in some Anglo/Asian race rioting for good measure, and the world will laugh in disgust when all the human waste in the downtown eastside overflows.
Hopefully, the film biz will go bust, too.

Another great city(well..before the late 90's dotcom boom and all the new money sucked the life out of it)that has fallen from grace. This might be a west coast problem. It's all about the quality of the people, as people make the place. So sad...

I am bilingual and not from birth, I became bilingual through leaving my country and mastering English, I teach at university and I can tell you that my students who are native speakers of English are much worse at their language than the foreigners: their grammar is pitiful, their spelling is atrocious.

Well, federal jobs are not the only ones available in Canada, so if you and your Anglo friends cannot manage another language there are many other monolingual jobs you can go for - some barely require you to grunt at people, you don't even have to speak to them (something very frequent among Vancouver's "customer service" people)
But the question remains: learning a foreign language (or even more than one, god forbid!) is something that would noticeably enrich your cultural horizon and enlarge your pea-sized brains; it is also something that most other nationalities in the world seem to be able to do, why is it that only Anglo-saxons are such crap at languages?
Are they more stupid than other races, or are they simply too bloody arrogant?
And by the way "patroits" was spelled "patriots" the last time I checked in the Oxford Dictionary.

I absolutely despise Vancouver, Canada. I am a Canadian, I have lived in many places in Canada, from east to west and north to south, and I must say that of all the places I've been, Vancouver is the absolute worst.

It's dirty. Seriously, it's a really dirty city. I mean, you go to some places - the touristy places- and superficially it looks nice and clean. Then you go around the wrong corner and it's a freakin' pig sty.

It's boring. There is nothing to do in Vancouver! There is no history, the beaches are crowded and suck, the restaurants are mediocre and there isn't that much of a variety unless you like Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The museums are lame, the night life is blah and unoriginal. Seriously, there is nothing fun to do here.

The people are rude. This was the biggest shocker. I can't even begin to express how amazed I was when I went into a hotel or a restaurant or any public place and was treated like something less than human. I'm going to stop right now before I get going to much one this point... Let me just say that I'm yet to meet ONE polite and kind person from Vancouver. AND I'VE LIVED THERE! Seriously, they've ALL been assholes.(Unlike in other major Canadian cities, like Montreal for example, where I found the people to be both kind, and helpful)

I could go on and on as to why I hate Vancouver, but I'll stop now because it's already to long and drawn out.

I lived in Vancouver for over 6 months, and after 6 months I absolutely had to leave. I visited on occasion before that and after, thinking maybe I just had a bad time of it. Everytime I visit Vancouver, trying desperately to convince myself maybe there was something wrong with me, I just find the same things over and over and over. Dirty, boring and rude. As near as I can tell, there is nothing redeeming about the place.

Actually I speak Cantonese mandarin and English as well as some Spanish. And for your information you rude scumbag. By the way ever heard of a typo? And when someones pissed off at the lack of respect for one's country maybe they will place one letter accidentally in front of the other when they are typing full of anger? About your idea of me being ignorant tell me why I am so ignorant and know nothing about cultures. I lived in Malaysia, Singapore, China, all for more than a few years. You know what. First off you have been making mistakes as well I don't judge you. Ever think some people don't really pay attention to every single word and make sure it's spelled correctly. Also you forgot to capitalize Cantonese, Chinese Canadian, English.

Hey , i remember in the 90's and the early 2000's you used to go to a bar and usually have no problems meeting people , but now , like nobody hooks up anymore! This city needs Viagra put in its water supply or anything .Yes , they are a lot of sexy people, but it seems like the "DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS " thing you learnt in Grade 2 seems to apply in your 20's and 30's also! That is what you get when you get crime out of control and a justice system that is run like a daycare. People become very apprehensive of one another and stop talking to each other out of fear.
Really, this sorry excuse of a city (wait until after the Olympics next year - this is only the tip of the iceberg), needs a HUGE reality check and people here have to sober up long enough to see that this aint a great place to live!

don't know who you are talking to. you used the word 'chink' and you talked about 1000 Hans killed, i guess you are referring to the recent riot in Urumqi, China.
