A poodle on a pedestal...wrong image for the eclectic, and very friendly Main St. neighborhood. Put it on the ground and it immediately becomes a piece of interactive and enjoyable public art. Up on a pedestal/pole it smacks of 'high art' and sends the wrong message.

Poodle on a pole? That's cute. Sounds like "cat on a hot tin roof."
