I used these movers too. They took 15 minutes smoke breaks every hour and the timer was going. Payment terms were misleading. They want nothing that they could tie them to a $ transaction so after the job was done they told they only accept cash yet their website said differently. I never got a reciept from them yet I paid GST. I'm pretty sure the Gov't would be getting that $. These guys are just fraudulent in everything that they do. They rip you off and the Gov't too. Stay away from them. I was going to call CRA but I could be bothered to go through the hassle. Just wasting more time on them and time is money.

I think these crooks Logan Movers must be taught a lesson. They are high handed and looking at the reviews on this site, it seems they are the biggest thieves. I am going to see what I can do to get them to pay, they have no right to play out people right in their faces.
The owner or whoever answers the phone by the so called name of George is an utter thug, I almost called the cops on him, he will meet his match someday Im sure. For decent people like us, it is too demeaning to get down to his level.
All I can say is KEEP AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, LOGAN MOVERS. They advertise mainly in the newspapers, I got their information from the Metro Newspaper.

NEVER USE LOGAN MOVERS aka L&G Movers, Complete Movers, etc. I had an absolutely horrible experience. They are scam artists. BOYCOTT THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

They operate under two different web sites:

http://www.completemovers.ca
http://www.loganmovers.ca

Here are more reviews about their company:

Do NOT USE Ace Moving and Storage aka "Stress Free Movers" aka "Alpha City Movers".

They held my things hostage at the delivery point until I paid them 3 times the quote. Their behaviour was criminal.

Hi Tim. Can you give me some more info on Metro Pacific Movers? I was going to book with them but want to make sure I have the same company. I have yet to find many reviews on them. Thanks!

I don't have any experience with the other movers mentioned in this thread but we hired Metro Pacific to move home today and couldn't have wished for a better service. The truck arrived early, our belongings were handled with care and we were charged exactly the amount that was quoted.

Donot use movers-on-demand. Their agreement said they would charge for min 4hrs labour + 1 hr travel time for one trip and additional trips would cost $30 extra. We had a single trip, but when we arrived at our destination they charged us for 8hr. They said minimum charge was for 1 load and though the whole process(load, travel and unload) took 3 hrs they charged us for 8 hrs(4 hrs load and 4 hrs unload time). Is this the way other movers do too??? Their agreement clearly states minimum 4 hrs labour charge for a single trip. Does anybody know if a single trip is only a load or should it include load, travel and unload? Can any legal action be taken against there guys?

I had the same terrible experience just yesterday. An idiot by the name of Ron was who I dealt with. He talked down to me, belittled me, used the "F" word telling me I did not buy him. I just paid for the move. In order for me to get my belongings I had to tolerate what was happening, which was extremely difficult. He uses the address 270 Rexdale Blvd. That is a storage place. The people who own the storage location are not related to this idiot. Actually I highly recommend them to anyone looking for storage. The name of the company is Etobicoke Self Storage, extremely clean, very friendly. There customer service is beyond words. John is the manager very nice person. But my hero was Anna Maria, she helped me out in my time of distress. Hats off to Etobicoke Self Storage, I will recommend you guys to everyone. But Ron from ACE Movers, your day is coming buddy. Go back to New York where you came from. Obviously you left because due to ripping off people there as well and you were driven out. Well here in Toronto we will let you know we do not put up with losers like you either. Enjoy your freedom while you can. There is a prism cell with your name on it and a girlfriend by the name of Fat Albert waiting for you.

We hired MOVERS ON DEMAND - Toronto ( www.movers-on-demand.com ) based on $40.00 per hour with a minimum three hour charge. We advised them that we were moving 4 heavy, commercial appliances. They never mentioned any surcharges for these appliances. We booked them based on their hourly rate. Upon their one hour late arrival they ask you to sign a general contract to start the move. However, when you arrive at the delivery site they will not unload your stuff until you pay their final invoice. This invoice is on a totally different receipt and has a whole list of surcharges. In our case the SCAM ARTISTS charged us for the labour, travel time, kitchen appliance surcharge, heavy equipment surcharge, and disassembly surcharge (we actually removed the doors and hinges to the equipment). We thought the total for the move would be ~$400.00...our bill was $897.00. We called the company and spoke to Kevin. Kevin said that upon booking he told us of all these surcharges...NO HE DID NOT!!! We called the police, but the officer advised that since we signed the generalized contract (even with these surcharges not listed on this document) there was nothing he could do. The delivery guys stated that they know their boss was overcharging, but there was nothing they could do. They just kept saying that they just worked for the company. BEWARE of these movers. They STEAL YOUR MONEY in front of your eyes.

I decided to go with Metro Pacific after reading 2 positive reviews here. I was really hoping for the best once I spoke to them on the phone. The person who took the order was nice and said they would call to confirm the move the day before the 1st.

The confirmation call did not come on the 31st so I called. We confirmed the time as 2 pm.

On the first 2 pm came and no movers. I call and am told they are running a bit late and will be 30 mins.

Another hour goes by . I call again. No answer. Another hour goes by. Finally 2.5 hours later they show up.

The 2 guys were fast, and polite and got my stuff moved quite quickly. They did seem to be carefull not to break things which I liked.

They ended up leaving behind the top to my table, we went back but it was already gone. I called them and they are refusing to replace or discount.
Needless to say it was not the greatest move experience ever, but I suppose it could be worse as well.

Unfortunately I didn't see this warning before I booked Toronto City Movers. They did the same thing to me! They charged extra money and wouldn't take anything but cash. They were slow and useless and took tons of cigarette breakes on the clock and then they put a hole in my wall and stole the box containg all of my alcohol (which they hid in a wardrobe box). The owner David, didn't do anything to fix these problems and actually hung up on me. Jokes on them though, I just filed with the small claims court and I'm going to win back every penny that lousy crook stole!

Beware of Logan Movers, who sometimes now go under the name of PREFERRED MOVERS. They also go by the names L & G Movers, Complete Movers and CMS. I had an absolutely terrible experience with them. They were late, moved slowly, didn't stick to their quote, were careles with my things, tried to extort money from me by refusing to unload my belongings until I paid them, and my friend and I had to move the majority of my stuff. The front man, GEORGE, is rude and a complete liar. If you want to see his attitude, look at previous posts of this thread at the reply by "NEWF" - THAT'S GEORGE! I have reported them to the Toronto Fraud Squad, The Ministry of Consumer Affairs and The Better Business Bureau, and I encourage others to do the same. STAY AWAY - THEY ARE HUGE CON ARTISTS!

I've read all the posts, and am wondering, does anyone know a GOOD mover? I just have a small move, too small for companies like Tippet Richardson and AMJ Campbell. Can anyone give me any recommendations that I can verify? Thanks and am so sorry so many of you went through what you did!

GOOD NEWS: pass it on.........due to the fine diligence of a couple of Logan victims: 2 employees of Logan Movers have been charged with 5 counts of theft. They were caught on surveillance video camera, stealing goods from a customer's storage unit while unloading. Good. But that only accounts for 2 people, and not 'George', aka (innumerable) Arraignment is June 9, 2009.

I am looking for a website that rates moving companies similar to a Consumers Report type rating.
I am wondering if there is any point in going with the small "no name" companies. I think its safer to go with the well known movers like AMJ, Atlas, etc.
Any comments?

You should talk to Alero Moving (web site is www.aleromoving.com ). We used them to move cross country and they were awesome!
