Hi, My family and I are possibly moving to Thunder Bay this winter. I have some questions reguarding racism. My wife has brown skin....she is born in Ontario... and speaks perfectly. So our kids are mixed as I am white. After doing some reading about the city I noticed alot of comments on how racist it is there. We are nice people looking for a life closer to nature. I am just worried about my kids in school and my wife going out at night. Is the situation really that bad??

It's not any worse here than other cities I have lived. I think the racism is mainly focused at certain individuals that leech off the system, say "hay dare" and think that their front yards are great places for garbage.

Ha, you see Chris from Toronto. TB_skibum just confirmed your fears. His/her negative stereotypical caricature of another race, is racist. This poster believes racism can be "focused", so that makes it ok. Not a clue this poster has, eh Chris?

There is a great deal of racism in Thunder Bay. People will proudly say they are racist. The incidents surroundly black people tend to be rare. However, so is the black population in Thunder Bay. I'm not aware of any problems black women have had. However there have been two I'm aware of, involving an adult male and a male child(who dropped his paper route as people in the neighourhood were calling him the n word) over several years time. But like I said, the population of blacks is extremely low here.

I've often heard the "n" word. The most common use is when one good ol' boy asks another to do something, and the response is "I'm not your n".

The racism seems to be mainly focused on the growing aboriginal population in Thunder Bay. However, racism is racism. As it festers it affects other racial minorities as well.

Hold on a minute, Skibum did not mention one single ethnic group, you did. Not only that, you made incorrect assumptions again.

Lol, Jacinda. I've heard those stereotypes and terms enough times in Thunder Bay, to know that they are applied to aboriginals.

Chris was asking about racism in general. He mentioned that his family are "brown". So I talked about the racism directed at darker skin people. Skibum covered racism applied to aboriginals. Not all of it of course. That might take an essay.

I know "hay dare" is a term applied to aboriginals by racists. And by the way Chris, you can look at any of my posts against racism that are rated nuts here on this local forum, because I employ facts and logic to my arguments. The self-admitted racists are looking for a minority to scapegoat and hate, as they are frustrated with their own life problems.

Is it in all parts of the city?
We are a hard working family.... both of us have full time jobs, a decent car....and we are all fishing adicts. Heck my wife drinks beer and loves hockey and football, and cleans her own fish. She is 100% Canadian.... just brown skinned.
Living in Toronto its hard to picture an intolerant city in Canada. However multiculturalism is over done here. White people are a minority here. But my biggest concern is that my kids may get teased and beat up in school for their race......then I will go to jail!!

Just a thought but here in my neighbourhood the white people are the ones that leach the system.
There is a convoy of welfare drunks leaving garbage everywhere. The minorities seem to work more. Just a funny observation

Ha, so it is about race once again, not about who "works hardest". Chris was saying white people in his neighbourhood are the ones who are poor, unsavoury, etc. You'd want to live in that neighbourhood because the so-called "sketchy" people are at least white.

Thunder Bay isn't that big a city for it to vary much from one part of the city to another. Most of it probably won't be said to your face. Native people are the largest visible minority in Thunder Bay. They make up about 11% of the city's population. The rest is very white. So it is hard for me to judge how it is for other visible minorities, other than the incidents I spoke of.

I do see a population, a majority population which is rather enamored with the norm. They are fearful and insecure and suspicious of anything that appears to be outside that. There's a lack of opportunity here. People worry about outsiders coming along and in some irrational way perceive them as threatening their little piece of the pie. Sometimes they are just looking for a distraction from their own problems, or are ignorant or bored.

For all my gay and lesbian friends and the long and narrow hetersexuals.....I have found the answer why we humans wheter we are gals or guys as to why we are ALL BORN with male and female genes. GOD in the form of a woman told me the answer this afternoon. The ANSWER is;....When we mate to ceate children...OUR FATHER in all His wisdom knew that our wifes, mother, or husband, daddy would die suddenly and leave us motherless or fatherless. Well, since we are equipped with both set of genes, we become the mother and father of our children or father and mother vis-versa. Love you all in Jesus Christ, the great warrior.

I know all about racism, and in Thunder Bay, there is only "water racism" smart cracks degrading integrity you know what I mean. What happened in Iran, if it happened like been raped and corn hold in the anal hole, then if done by the police here, then that would be racism. The residential school abuse is another form of racism because of the "pain" within' the soul it leaves. This big IAP payouts some amounting in $500,000.00, some $140,000.00 are suppose to heal this "pain" created by the abuse from the school officals. They say they were Correction Canada officials, well, how come the Government and the Holy Churches don't pay every surviving student that much to heal the soul that is burning in passion, no one can work with fire in the soul like the students who were inmates in those schools. Oh ya! those contentious workers they were corn holed under the wrong circumstances, oral anal love as some know is as fun as the heterosexual love, it must be performed under loving conditions just like between man and woman.

Toronto police release security image of sexual assault suspect
Full story: 680News
A security camera image of a vehicle allegedly used by a man who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl was released by police, Friday

My reply:

Whenever you want to advertise sexual hungry beasts like the one you advertised...just a comment,"why don't you use the lying attorney general's gang, the do a better job of messing up someone's life. I am Barry Wynn, such a gang messed up my life and I have never been convicted of rape, child molestation or shemale or gay bashing. My wife left 6 years ago and at that time I had 3 children i.e. 2 girls and a boy. I raised the boy myself and he went into regular army to be educated and become a man i.e. because the Indian Affairs didn't pay for his high school education and the high school didn't teach him instead kicked him out. My son and my help got him 17 high school credits from 1 credit which the high school got for him. Anyway the solicitor-general used a pedophile to destroy my marriage and took my sixteen year daughter after my wife have left me, so to the attorney general I ask him this question? Who did I hurt that you used the lying attorney general's gang? From Barry Wynn

boyoboy Berry, your life is one big tragedy, eh? Every time you come on you have a brand new story about how you were farked by "the man". Often your characters change though, so one wonders how much of it is really true.

Your son seems so much older in this story now. In one of your other stories, he was currently in highschool.

Have you ever considered giving up the whining and getting on with your life?
