I probably would not use that herb in pregnancy or lactation. Nothing wrong with the herb. However, there are ahost of compounds in the plant responsible for its effects. It seems risky to expose the unborn or infant. I would probably opt for SAM-e and pure chocolate instead. Both being foods women in pregnancy and lactation commonly use with no ill effects to the child. St. John's wort is still good though.
