Edmonton water supply short on fluoride

Edmonton water supply short on fluoride

There are 33 comments on the Edmonton Journal story from Aug 11, 2007, titled Edmonton water supply short on fluoride. In it, Edmonton Journal reports that:

“We are monitoring it. We have enough for now but if we do run into a situation where we're not able to add fluoride to drinking water because of the shortage, we'll notify the public”

The chemical that many municipalities add to water to prevent tooth decay is in such short supply that Edmonton could run out this fall if an expected shipment falls through. via Edmonton Journal

I read about how they have never proven that it is good to ingest. Yes, it is good to put directly on your teeth, but if you ingest it it causes white spots on your teeth and brittle bones. Google it, you can find lots.
I wish Calgary would run out of fluoride.

In a statement released August 9, 2007, over 600 dentists, physicians, scientists and environmentalists urge Congress to stop water fluoridation until Congressional hearings are conducted. They cite new scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks.( http://www.fluorideaction.org/statement.augus... )
Signers include a Nobel Prize winner, three members of the prestigious 2006 National Research Council (NRC) panel that reported on fluoride’s toxicology, two officers in the Union representing professionals at EPA headquarters, the President of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment, and hundreds of medical, dental, academic, scientific and environmental professionals, worldwide.
Signer Dr. Arvid Carlsson, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize for Medicine, says,“Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology. It's really obsolete.”
An Online Action Petition to Congress in support of the Professionals' Statement is available on FAN's web site, www.fluorideaction.org .
“The NRC report dramatically changed scientific understanding of fluoride's health risks," says Connett. "Government officials who continue to promote fluoridation must testify under oath as to why they are ignoring the powerful evidence of harm in the NRC report,” he added.
An Assistant NY State Attorney General calls the report “the most up-to-date expert authority on the health effects of fluoride exposure.”
The Professionals’ Statement also references:
-- The new American Dental Association policy recommending infant formula NOT be prepared with fluoridated water.
-- The CDC’s concession that the predominant benefit of fluoride is topical not systemic.
-- CDC data showing that dental fluorosis, caused by fluoride over-exposure, now impacts one third of American children.
-- Major research indicating little difference in decay rates between fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities.
-- A Harvard study indicating a possible link between fluoridation and bone cancer.
-- The silicofluoride chemicals used for fluoridation are contaminated industrial waste and have never been FDA- approved for human ingestion.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a DC watchdog, revealed that a Harvard professor concealed the fluoridation/bone cancer connection for three years. EWG President Ken Cook states,“It is time for the US to recognize that fluoridation has serious risks that far outweigh any minor benefits, and unlike many other environmental issues, it's as easy to end as turning off a valve at the water plant.”
Partially, as a result of this statement, at least one city, Cobleskill NY, stopped 54 years of water fluoridation. See: http://www.fluoridealert.org/news/2998.html
Many communities rejected or stopped fluoridation over the years. See: http://www.fluoridealert.org/communities.htm
Take Action to End Fluoridation. Sign the Online Petition to End Fluoridation and call for a Congressional Hearing

After doing research I am against having flouride in our water. Doctors nad Dentists of high standing/ethics have agreed that it is not healthy and has negative side effects on our health. With so much money going to cancer research and the possibility that flouride can cause cancer let's stop using it. We'll save money and lives. If you really want your family to have flouride you can purchase flouride drops from your local pharmacy. Make is your own informed choice.

Here I see in the future a repeat of Walkerton, only in a disaster so great that closing a well and flushing the pipes will not be the remedy, the wells by the hundreds will be polluted.
No more clean potable water, only polluted water and this polluted water will come out very likely for20 to 50 years.
What can we do to prevent such catastrophe?
Very simple do not pollute our rivers, lakes and underground streams.

Good! Edmonton's citizens will be healthy people with greater brain wave activity, more healthy teeth with less counts of fluorosis, and have a more pain free body due to the lack of excess fluoride built up in their bones and organs. I hope every Canadian city runs out of fluoride and never restocks it again.

HARMFUL EFFECTS OF FLUORIDE Fluoride is used as an insecticide and a roach killer. Even at the level they use to fluoridate your public water supply, usually at the rate of about 1 part fluoride for every million parts of water (1 ppm) by weight, it causes severe problems. As little as one-tenth of an ounce of fluoride will cause death. It is more poisonous than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. No one will die from drinking one glass of fluoridated water, but it is the long term chronic effects of drinking fluoridated water that affects health...

To all your poorly informed sheep out there who believe that what you have been told must be true because it came from your government...WAKE UP..do research on everything that has to do with your own health and body stop believing shit just because it was in the paper or some asshole in the government said so.....It blows my mind with the amount on information out there how many people still CHOOSE to believe the lies... look up the Manhattan Project...then look up fluorosis poisoning ..then look up effects of fluoride in the body, then look up “The truth about fluoride”..then look up the truth about "ïnsert subject here" and TRY to ONLY read articles not published by the persons producing or selling the shit you want the truth on…For Example don't go to the dairy websites expecting truth on milk...and do not go to the sweet and low websites looking for the truth on aspartame...Start taking responsibility on your own self and own families. Other people have posted some helpful links on Fluoride above..read, learn, & educate YOURSELF.

I just moved to Edmonton from beautiful BC, and I have lived in many towns, and cities there, and travelled every corner of it, Queen Charlottes included,(lived there for a few years)and never have I ever had the taste of chlorine in the water, nor smell. But it is in the water here in Edmonton. Bottled water must make quite the profit.

In BC most places the water is really good. Kootenays has really good water, growing up in Harrison Mills, we had the best water to date that I have ever tasted.
My kids drink lots of water, so am concerned what they get, so just buy bottled. If you live in some of the northern areas, 100 Mile House, Wills Lake, Prince etc, you have lots of arson, and minerals in the water. I just moved from Lillooet and we got our water from a natural source, but you do not want to make a big habit of drinking it, as it will cause stones. I noticed lots of people with that malady.

I hope we get rid of this fluoride crap, paying to ingest a chemical that is proven to affect the brain, kidneys and bones when ingested. Fluoride made lab rats in a texas university study in 1933 totally retarded. The doctor/dentist who first speerheaded the institution of adding fluoride to water in Canada thought the addition of calcium fluroide would be beneficial. What we really were getting in the water supply was sodium fluoride from toxis waste dumps, MY GOD!!!

Well they certainly are not short on the chlorine they use, I can smell it. And why would anyone these days use tap water to drink.

People ingest worse things than flouride into their systems. What they eat out at these restaurants/gag & pukes is far worse for your body than flouride.

Fluoride is part of Agenda 21... they'll come up with some. I'd love to believe that there will be a day when the water is not fluoridated, but I seriously doubt they'd ever let that happen.
