Not so, Charles has declared to be defender of faith (not THE faith).

And when he does go out and live a little, he gets castigated in the media.

Think I prefer a monarchy to the vitriol and bile that is still bouncing around certain topics on the election of your new head of state.

Nice to see you have such a clear understanding of the UK's constitutional process - the monarchy will not skip a generation.

tony1003----yes we do have some hatred for Obama here but not much since he won in a convincing landslide....those that continue to snipe and grumble would do so anyway ,if not Obama it would be over something else...such is their pathetic lives....

the thing about your system is here in the USA we might get an idiot ,like Bush ,sometimes but at worst they are gone in 8 years,my God you've had Charles moping around over there for 60 damn years looking the fool.Dont see how you put up with 6 decades or even more of the same tripe from the same people....

The great difference for us is that he is titular - has no real power. As the constitutional law books put it, the British monarch "has the power to advice, warn and be informed". Aside from that, no real power at all. Even the role as head of the armed forces is titular - but I will give Charlie boy his due, he was a darn good naval officer. So, doesn't matter too much. And it brings in tourist revenue, which is more than can be said for Bush! Anyway, it gives you guys across the pond amusement to wonder at our antideluvian system.
