More than $5.00 more for a bag of apples. Apples can grow in Dryden.
I was raised in Northern Ontario in the fifties and I remember fruit. There were apples, oranges and occasionally bananas available to the children of steelworkers. People who had family in Southern Ontario got fruit sent to them or brought on a visit. The farmers aren't seeing much of the inflated costs. It really is true that we should all be working toward producing our own food real fast. |

I just moved from Ontario to New Brunswick. 4 liters of milk in ON was costing me $3.98 at WalMart. I was shocked when I got here to find the same amount of milk at WalMart selling for $7.19!

That is an eye opener and a disgrace. Milk has been traditionally held at lower prices as it is viewed as an essential for children's teeth and bone development.
If you are in the country get a goat. Different taste but at least you won't be paying $7.19 for four litres after the initial investment costs. Bet those farmers aren't seeing much of the almost $4 difference either.
