Capital Hoedown going down the drain!

As you all know, the City of Ottawa has revoked Capital Hoedown's special event permit for failure to pay $150K for services to support the country music festival. They had told the city the money was wired, when in actual fact it was not. Almost simultaneously, nearly every artist that was scheduled to perform has withdrawn for non-receipt of payment, including Reba, Brad Paisley, Ronnie Dunn, Sheryl Crow, Terry Clark, and others. Taylor Swift who was fronted $2.1M has since disassociated herself with the event by returning the mone, which she was not obligated to do. Capital Hoedown now has no venue, and no performers. Please use this forum to voice your opinions, thoughts and to discuss any news surrounding the downward spiral of this event.

Was anyone else waiting until closer to the show to buy their tickets because last year they ended up going 2 for 1?

I feel for the people who already bought their tickets, and for country fans in Ottawa because I'm worried this will make us/our town a joke and a red light to country artists around the world.

Although, South Mountain/Shawville fairs are a better time/concert anyway and they're free.

A radio friend tells me Boots and Hearts is setting up a country festival in Ottawa next year. They are working out a sponsorship program with the station.

Good luck getting performers after the embarassment of the canceled acts and city park. The city wont deal with him for the new venue.

"The owners are on drugs!!! It's made them dilusional!!!"

PLEASE! I know crackheads who could still put together less of a farce out of passion for the music.

Refunds WON'T happen <- my bet. Things are gonna get uglier than sin. Think about it, he keeps buying more and more time with no solid answers, no headliners, not even a plan for how people are to get to the ranch!

If you're still paying off previous years bills, there is NO WAY. I think the tickets said "NO REFUNDS" for a reason. You're all getting strung along terribly.

There will be no refunds if there is a three day festival. Period. Read your ticket. Artists are subject to change - No refunds. The website showed out of date artists for weeks and now it been completely down for over a week. He no longer even sells tickets to this event. It's over. He couldn't pay a small deposit to the city. The owner has made this event the laughing stock of the City of Ottawa and obviously has no business skills whatsoever. A complete joke. The City will not allow ANY necessary permits for him to operate in Stittsville with his track record.

it has been 10 days that the website is down. boots & hearts in bowmanville has picked up several of the performers. the newly chosen location, numech ranch, is unable to get permits in time to start from scratch with a new event. the public has lost all faith and people are ready for refunds in 2 days.

Nothing has gone as planned. To trust this man any more would be really dumb of everyone, I still feel bad cause my heart tells me there won't be refunds at all. I agree with what BH and LOLLLLLL have said.

My guess is that the press release on Tuesday June 19th will announce one of two things:
1) The Capital Hoedown is cancelled this year and it is everyone's fault but the promoters. They will blame the City, Taylor Swift, etc.
2) The event is going on at Numech Ranch with all different acts than were originally announced and there are NO REFUNDS because the three day event is taking place so tough luck, despite the fact they already said refunds would be offered on June 19th.

That is if we even get a press release on time. The website has already been down for a week longer than promised by the promoter.

Does anyone still have faith that the refunds will begin tomorrow? Does seriously believe that they're going to pull a satisfactory three day line up out of their butts before 11:59pm tonight to allow for people to truly decide if it's still worthwhile?

I hope Benoit goes to jail for a long time for the disgrace he has caused to the Ottawa Music Festival scene.

There is still no info on new artists on The Capital Hoedown's website and I think there's no hope in hell that refunds will be issued tomorrow. I just hope the media stays on top of this story for the sake of the ticket buyers. There ought to be a thorough police and government investigation to determine whether this clan is guilty of any wrong doings whether it be tax evasion, theft of ticket money or whatever.

I must admit things look pretty bad :(

If there's no line up to announce by now it can't be worth withholding from the public... unless there are no refunds to speak of!

I go to Havelock every year. My friend begged me to go to hoedown this year with her, since she is a huge Reba fan. Plus with the other names. I hummed and thought about it. She begged me to go. I should have know better to buy the tickets on sale, she didn't buy her ticket yet, she said she had hers, but I've now found out she hasn't gotten hers yet. I guess I didn't think anything of investigating the organizers, since they had put on shows the last 2 years. I'm also no in the Ottawa area. I've bought my Havelock tickets even thou I know I will not get the 395.00 I paid for 2 tickets to the Shamedown hoedown. I'm pissed. Giving tickets buyers the stamp of stupidity isn't all that fair. Why would we think its a scam if 2 have gone off with big names? I didn't go to either of them. If frontline tickets whom I've been talking to one of them, keeps saying staytuned to their website, yeah.. no thanks. Artist are subject to change, BUT not drastically. That is a criminal act. Frontline gates will tell you about a refund that no refunds allowed, it on your order, and that they have not been told by the festival of any refunds to be given, and to check back to hoedown website. So, unless frontline recieves offical conformation from the organizers that refunds are to be given, they WILL NOT give them. Doesn't matter how many links, media bulletons.. unless Hoedown says so, it won't happen. I gave them a warning that on June 19, hire extra agents, and get their legal team ready, its gonna get messy. I'm sure the lawyers are salvating with the prospect of all the money they can make off this, and still ticket buyers get nothing. I will continue with Havelock. First time I try something different, and a favour for a friend. So, don't get to excited over a refund. If they haven't announced a new line up, which was to be announced days ago, yup, we got *** and didn't even get kissed.
