Watch your water, hydrant flushing begins
#1 Jun 29, 2010
Annual high velocity hydrant flushing is essential to the maintenance of potable water distribution lines. However, there is a U.S. based company called Hydro-Guard that has helped thousands of municipal water utilities maximize their water quality through automating their flushnig programs. This process lowers operational costs (for the utility and the taxpayers), reduces the manpower necessary to flush lines, and conserves a tremendous amount of water. I saw the sales team from Hydro-Guard at the recent AWWA Ace Conference in Chicago. They showed me a Return on Investment calculator that claimed my utility could save $13,000 and 180,000 gallons of water each year per site where one of their devices was located.
