Buzz shoots off his mouth a lot but he does have a point about fair trade. In Korea,if someone wanted to bring in an American brand car, there is every possible barrier put up to discourage it.You will even be audited tax time.Yet,Hyundai can sell how many they want here,no questions asked.
There are similar trade barriers/restriction in other asian markets.

Having said that,I don't believe if those markets were open that it would save the domestic brands.

Unions have got to realize that it's not just the product selling factor.Costs in the unionized domestic plants is way more than say Honda or Toyota.I used to work for Honda as a subcontractor for 4 years and their plant in Alliston,Ont never as a layoff and now they're buliding a new engine plant across the street from the mfg.plant.

In the states, health benefits etc paid to their workers is an enormous amount.

Lastly, the domestics make great trucks, some ok SUV's and few cars.Look at Ford, what good variety of cars do they have? GM has got the Impala and that's it.Chrysler?...Caliber...ha ha ha.
I bought a new Civic in 2004.Would I have even considered the Chevy Cobalt,Pontiac G5 or Ford Focus.....never! My Civic has yet to visit the dealer for any problems.

Buddy! You must be one of those Dumb ass s that thinks he s better than everyone else because he has an education? Im educated and have worked for the Automotive sector for 25 years and I can personally tell you that the Auto Industry has done GREAT things for many communities in this country. Good pay equals spinoff jobs and charitable community income? So Buddy go back to your office chair at the CIBC or Toronto Dominion bank and figure on ways to screw every Canadian out of MORE money. If you think you are worth what you make think again looser?
Bless GOOD paying jobs

God Bless Buzz Hargrove and the brothers and sisters of unions in Canada . ANY good paying jobs in this country are GOOD jobs. Seems its NOT the unions fault here BUT the Governments? Unions are trying to preserve good paying jobs in Canada and governments are trying to abolish unions and bring labour down to there knees (below the poverty line)? Anyone whom says an autoworker is not worth that much money should seriously look at what they do for a living. I have worked in the automotive sector for 25 years with numerous layoffs over the years and am very, very grateful to have a great paying job.I wish ALL Canadians could receive the wages and benefits fought for over the years by unions so they too could feel the joy of some financial freedom in this country rather than struggle, struggle, struggle???? I guess the governments officials want to be the ONLY ones in this country to make damn good wages and pensions (for example $140,000.00 a year for a retired MPP leader) WOW! If you want to have it out with someone try your own CORROPT Government. Thanks for reading
