Edmonton water supply short on fluoride
“We are monitoring it. We have enough for now but if we do run into a situation where we're not able to add fluoride to drinking water because of the shortage, we'll notify the public”
The chemical that many municipalities add to water to prevent tooth decay is in such short supply that Edmonton could run out this fall if an expected shipment falls through. via Edmonton Journal

I read about how they have never proven that it is good to ingest. Yes, it is good to put directly on your teeth, but if you ingest it it causes white spots on your teeth and brittle bones. Google it, you can find lots.
I wish Calgary would run out of fluoride. |

In a statement released August 9, 2007, over 600 dentists, physicians, scientists and environmentalists urge Congress to stop water fluoridation until Congressional hearings are conducted. They cite new scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks.(http://www.fluorideacti on.org/statement.august.2007.h tml)
Signers include a Nobel Prize winner, three members of the prestigious 2006 National Research Council (NRC) panel that reported on fluoride’s toxicology, two officers in the Union representing professionals at EPA headquarters, the President of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment, and hundreds of medical, dental, academic, scientific and environmental professionals, worldwide. Signer Dr. Arvid Carlsson, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize for Medicine, says,“Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology. It's really obsolete.” An Online Action Petition to Congress in support of the Professionals' Statement is available on FAN's web site, www.fluorideaction.org . “The NRC report dramatically changed scientific understanding of fluoride's health risks," says Connett. "Government officials who continue to promote fluoridation must testify under oath as to why they are ignoring the powerful evidence of harm in the NRC report,” he added. An Assistant NY State Attorney General calls the report “the most up-to-date expert authority on the health effects of fluoride exposure.” The Professionals’ Statement also references: -- The new American Dental Association policy recommending infant formula NOT be prepared with fluoridated water. -- The CDC’s concession that the predominant benefit of fluoride is topical not systemic. -- CDC data showing that dental fluorosis, caused by fluoride over-exposure, now impacts one third of American children. -- Major research indicating little difference in decay rates between fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities. -- A Harvard study indicating a possible link between fluoridation and bone cancer. -- The silicofluoride chemicals used for fluoridation are contaminated industrial waste and have never been FDA- approved for human ingestion. The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a DC watchdog, revealed that a Harvard professor concealed the fluoridation/bone cancer connection for three years. EWG President Ken Cook states,“It is time for the US to recognize that fluoridation has serious risks that far outweigh any minor benefits, and unlike many other environmental issues, it's as easy to end as turning off a valve at the water plant.” Partially, as a result of this statement, at least one city, Cobleskill NY, stopped 54 years of water fluoridation. See: http://www.fluoridealert.org/news/2998.html Many communities rejected or stopped fluoridation over the years. See: http://www.fluoridealert.org/communities.htm Take Action to End Fluoridation. After doing research I am against having flouride in our water. Doctors nad Dentists of high standing/ethics have agreed that it is not healthy and has negative side effects on our health. With so much money going to cancer research and the possibility that flouride can cause cancer let's stop using it. We'll save money and lives. If you really want your family to have flouride you can purchase flouride drops from your local pharmacy. Make is your own informed choice.

Here I see in the future a repeat of Walkerton, only in a disaster so great that closing a well and flushing the pipes will not be the remedy, the wells by the hundreds will be polluted.
No more clean potable water, only polluted water and this polluted water will come out very likely for20 to 50 years. What can we do to prevent such catastrophe? Very simple do not pollute our rivers, lakes and underground streams. |

they put it in the water to dumb the public down. it has been proven that it causes lowered IQ's.

Good! Edmonton's citizens will be healthy people with greater brain wave activity, more healthy teeth with less counts of fluorosis, and have a more pain free body due to the lack of excess fluoride built up in their bones and organs. I hope every Canadian city runs out of fluoride and never restocks it again.

1 http://wqxt.com/ HARMFUL EFFECTS OF FLUORIDE Fluoride is used as an insecticide and a roach killer. Even at the level they use to fluoridate your public water supply, usually at the rate of about 1 part fluoride for every million parts of water (1 ppm) by weight, it causes severe problems. As little as one-tenth of an ounce of fluoride will cause death. It is more poisonous than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. No one will die from drinking one glass of fluoridated water, but it is the long term chronic effects of drinking fluoridated water that affects health... http://www.consumerhealth.org/articles/displa... |

1 In BC most places the water is really good. Kootenays has really good water, growing up in Harrison Mills, we had the best water to date that I have ever tasted. My kids drink lots of water, so am concerned what they get, so just buy bottled. If you live in some of the northern areas, 100 Mile House, Wills Lake, Prince etc, you have lots of arson, and minerals in the water. I just moved from Lillooet and we got our water from a natural source, but you do not want to make a big habit of drinking it, as it will cause stones. I noticed lots of people with that malady. |
