And you mean to tell me he has the bishop's blessing on this at a time when diocesan Catholic high schools are begging for students? Or is this some kind of a sick joke? Chesterton Academy doesn't sound too Catholic to me. Sounds like it's named in memory of Chester, the longtime maintenance man at Queen of Peace who quit because he couldn't put up with Poblocki's bizarre way of doing things. Perhaps the Rickster feels a tad guilty he drove old Chester away,

No heat at St. Mary's in the Fall? No money? No casino chip? People are freezing in the church.

Ropelski's anniversary of death is today. May he rest in peace.

BUFFALO, N.Y.(AP)_ A Roman Catholic priest pleaded guilty to buying cocaine but denied through his lawyer that he paid for the drugs with church money.
Monsignor Stanley Ropelski, 62, of Lackawana is to be sentenced on July 13. Prosecutors agreed to recommend probation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Guerra said Wednesday that Ropelski used an intermediary to buy hundreds of dollars of cocaine at a time, sharing the drugs with young men he befriended.
One of the men told investigators that Ropelski used church money to support his habit. Ropelski's lawyer, Michael Taheri, denied that, and Assistant District Attorney Kevin Dillon said an investigation was inconclusive.
''That money comes in in buckets. There's no way to trace that,'' Dillon said.
Ropelski resigned from St. Michael the Archangel Church in suburban Buffalo in August.
Ropelski admitted buying cocaine in 1987. The Buffalo News quoted law enforcement sources as saying that Ropelski was implicated in many other drug buys over a six-year period ending in 1993.

There are a lot of very nice empty buildings all the clergy could move into. How about some in Detroit, Cleveland, Boston and Portland. Buffalo would be a much happier place.

Yes but we are not going to say where because they will find us and send the wrecking balling after us.

Is Buffalo bringing back "accused" priests under radar as supply priests? Another reason why Mansell and Cunningham never disclosed al the names and listed some as simple retirements. These guys are looking out for their own. If a retired priest shows up in your parish to help out, start to get suspicious.

… he may be an innocent priest who has been falsely accused.
Be happy that he is still an active priest of the Lord.

The first thing they should be asked is if they are gay. Don't forget that 8o % figure that nobody wants to remember. We should be interested in convictions not just accusations.

Many schools are closing because they and their families are no longer Catholic. The Chesterton Academy will surely grow because it is and so are the families that support it. Imagine: there is even a crucifix in the classroom and students start the day with mass!
