I did NOT say that the mansion belongs to the bishop. We are calling upon him to authorize its sale. OK, so it technically belongs to the diocese. At any rate, it needs to be sold as it remains an awkward symbol of opulence.

Fr. Micheal from St.Mary's in the Falls was transferred to another parish due to the financial mismanagent. Is his successor going to be able to resolve these problems soon?
Fr. Michael left a debt of around $400,000. How was it that that kind of financial mismanagement was allowed to happen over a period of several years? Why didn't the diocese step in when such financial improprieties where happening over several years? All Fr. Michael did was blame the deacon for all the financial problems our parish was having. Was Fr. stealing the money to support his alcohol problem or his many vacations or his home? Also, why were there so many families listed as belonging to the parish and now the new pastor lists about half as many. Did all those people leave or did Fr. Michael seriously inflate the numbers to make himself look good? Well Judge Judy, what is the verdict???

Why in the world certain priests charge more for funerals in the Falls than others? Could you give me an answer, please?
Some priests may do a song and dance and be well worth it when charging more for a funeral. Others may find it necessary to charge more because they own a home, and unlike living in a rectory on the parish dole, find they have to pay property tax, school tax; not to mention the cost of food and liquor is not cheap. Some priests of the DOB just steal it from their parish. And no, they don't go to confession or confess to embezzling their church. Others like Voorhees have arranged it for the parish to foot the bill for living expenses - and with the bishop's blessing, mind you! Here you have a perfectly fine rectory and the man doesn't live in it, but charges the parish an additional fee so that it covers his home in Orchard Park.

How could many churches and schools operate for years with hundreds of thousand dollar deficits? Creative bookkeeping under the blind eyes of the Diocese? Bleeding other parishes through higher assessments? Allowing honest priests and generous parishioners to work themselves out to death?

A few years ago, when the problem of embezzlement surfaced, the diocese called a meeting of pastors, trustees and finance committees. Over 400 people attended. At the end, a layman asked the panel:“What happens when someone in the finance committee discovers some irregularity and reports to the diocese?” There was only a roaring laugh in the hall.

The verdict is that the new priest is as incompetent as the previous one. Nothing changed there at this time. Number of people left that place when' the new broom' arrived at St. Mary's church.

Voorhees is not the only one. One in the Falls is doing something very similar.

Fr. Mike was a great priest. We Knights met at his place without any problem until this new priest arrived. Doors were locked, and we were practically kicked out. Most of us left even his parish, and went to other parishes. This new priest lost number of people due to his personality behavior. Let him pay off that debt from his own pocket!

Fr. Mike is not an alcoholic. He did not steal any money! Fr. Mike was a very dedicated priest. With this new one, there is a questions, and big one! He is a mystery to many of us who left the parish.
