I know of one school in O.P. that has been kept open. It only has the physical capacity for about 250 students total. They are turning lots of those kids from closing schools away. In order to house 500 or even 400 students (diocesan requirement to stay open) they will need to build a new classroom building or physically extend the existing one . At the expense of the diocese or the parish? What they should have done was merged this school with neighboring schools into one of the school buildings that could handle it. If their are reasons to support what they are doing then why keep people in the dark? Makes no sense, PERIOD!!!!

Now now Mary. You know very well that's not completely true. Exceptions are made depending on ones financial stature toward the DOB.

The priest will spend 4 years in prison

This computer is challenging priests to live according to the Pope's way.Priests should get rid of their summer huts, villas, hideout places, condos, expensive cars, speedboats, etc.

You are very wrong. Rome has voted differently recently otherwise it would have to reject the scriptures. I suggest you go back and read your scriptures. It has never been about numbers and you and others that are repeating this are heretics . Woe to those who disperse God's people and worse to those who mock their faith.

One of the closed Schools in the near Southtowns held 750 kids in 2 buildings in the 1980s when my kids attended. It was run very well by the national award winning Principal. The current closings seemed to hurt the middle class more than the city schools or the higher class parts of the area. The 10 schools just closed, no great plan (as promised), no mergers, just find another school, no money infusion like The South Buffalo School to the tune of $850k as published in the WNY Catholic. The Children are the future of the Church. Why are we abandoning them?

NOT TRUE Look up your theology and some of the latest decisions from the Vatican.

The Church is neither capitalistic, socialist, nor communist. No wonder people are leaving the church in droves. There is no one to teach them. Shame on you. Go back to religion class and kneel on a stack of Bibles.

Interesting TV event: on Saturday, February 8th, at 1:00 p.., EWTN will present the episcopal ordination and enthronement of Bishop Kurt Burnette of Passaic. It is a high quality production with 5 cameras. Bishop Burnette has three earned doctorates and it the first bishop of western European ancestry (Scots) to head an Eastern Catholic diocese anywhere in the world The liturgy is almost entirely in English.

If you check out the National Catholic Reporter's coverage of Arsenault case, it verifies what I have been saying all along. If a priest is making an excessive amount of money, there is probably a sexual partner somewhere is the background. This even happens outside the Catholic church. Archimandrite Gabriel Karambis secretary to the Greek Orthodox Archbishop paid $38,000 to cover up his involvement with a male prostitute ( and was still exposed) Kondratick, former chancellor of th orthodox church in America, has twice been convicted of embezzlement and defrocked. Most Buffalo priests get along on far less.

We are consoled that we are not alone. There are a lot of priests who receive money that they are not entitled to. Who is checking up on them?

Polonia will not be dead the week of April 14 - 21 !
Easter week - Holy Thursday, the Seven Churches, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Blessing of the baskets, Swienconka, Easter Sunday, and of course the ever popular Dyngus Day - which attracts more people downtown and to the Polonia area than St. Patirck's Day does !

Come to Polonia that week and enjoy our Polish heritage and all of the festivities !

What do you mean when you write not entitled to? If a benefactor gives one a monetary reward it is only the business of the two parties involved, and not some jealous and nosey nitpicker..

Well, they are a lot more Polish people in the Buffalo than Irish. and Poles have held onto their language and culture much more tenaciously than any other other Latin rite groups. The irish and others were Americanized early on, which in some ways brought them some advantages in church leadership and the political world. among Eastern Catholics, Ukrainians and Armenians have kept their languages.(An Armenian liturgy in any language other than Armenian would be unthinkable, almost an oxymoron.
