Those who oppose the Pope or bishop for ANY reason will find it easy to get their views in the media. This is not because the media cares about churches - in fact they are opposed to everything St. Ann Church stood for. This is because the media is opposed to the Catholic Faith. When you see the friendly news coverage about heroic parishioners standing up to the DOB, remember that newspaper or TV station supports abortion, opposes the traditional family, opposes the New Testament, opposes everything the real St. Ann, St. Adalbert, St. Mary, St. Catherine, and all the other saints taught in their lifetime. People who want to share the ideals of the real St. Ann, St. Agatha, St. Luke, St. Joachim, etc, can't access the media.
Are we talking about Church Doctrine or are we talking real estate ? We are called to be good stewards of what we have been given, materially and spiritually. Have all clergy been good at this, certainly not. Have all clergy been good teachers and examples? Was destroying St. Barbaras and keeping St.Michaels
a good financial decision? Do you know how many pierogi you have to sell to pay for demolition? Outside of church doctrine, we do not have to assume that the Bishop and clergy are always right.
They just THINK they are because they have the power.

Wasn't St. Barbara's always a thorn in the side of the DOB? If my memory serves me, they always heard a different drum beat. The kids in school were taught in Polish even though they were born here. They were also very unfriendly to other cultures. I don't think anyone lost much sleep over that parish.

Speaking of St. Luke, why is it a shadow parish? I thought there was a priest shortage. Where did the rehab money come from and why?
And why is the diocese willing to make deals with outsiders and treats their own like dirt?

Every polish parish represents what's wrong with the DOB. Close em all!! Starting with Dunkirk and finishing with Buffalo! Their filled with trash parishioners that support criminal priests for their own selfish needs. Dunkirk is a perfect example of what it means to be a priest whore and she knows it. Just look at her daughter.

There we go getting personal. When people are too dumb or too ignorant to discuss the issues. That's how the DOB wins. Devide and conquer then chop them down one by one. By all means be proud of your stupid selves.

Who brain washed you? Why shouldn't people be taught different languages even if they are born here? What was so great about the DOB's drum? Look at the results. Do you hear anybody complain that the Jews teach Hebrew or the Greeks , Greek ? Who told you that being an Irish Catholic is better than being a Polish Catholic? Who told you that?

I want to be clear. I am a great fan of you. They really were very odd. I have nothing against any nationality but they refused to assimilate. They tried to make us feel bad.

Irish Catholics better than Polish Catholics? That's the attitude which brought so much spiritual damage to the church in Buffalo and elsewhere. The cathedral in Lancaster is just one witness to problems that arose out of bigotry several decades ago. Ruthenians and Ukrainians didn't fare much better (egads, married priests). It is appalling to see these ideas re-emerging in the 21st century. Guys, grow up.

So, let's get this straight: Then the Journey in Faith and Grace was not about closing some churches and keeping others open based on studies to determine what made most sense in a financial and population standpoint but rather in a cookie-cutter fashion leaving those churches open where the people would be most likely to conform making robots out of all DOB catholics, noone different, nothing standing out, all people the same, all structures the same, pack 'em in....roll 'em out, 25 minutes start to finish, parking lot emptied. Hmmmmmmm. That's what I thought. BTW, WHO paid for the demolition of St. Barbara's? No, I mean, WHO really paid for it? Same person who WAS going to be made to pay for St. Ann's before it was 'saved'(another crock btw). Money talks, even if it isn't YOUR money.

Remember St. Bonaventure in West Seneca. Twelve hundred parishioners, no debt, and many parish activities. They had a pastor and nun(who ran the parish) that wanted the Parish closed and encouraged the DOB to close it. Parishioners were sent to St. William's where there are now less than a thousand parishioners combined. The only meeting space on the property is not handicap accessible and the most promoted activity is going to the casino.

Does anyone out there understand that assimilation is against Church teaching? Does anyone out there understand anything about Church teaching?

Somethings to think about: the number of priests in the USA is going down at a rate of about 405 annually; the number of nuns are declining at a rate of about 1150 per year, and about 185 parishes close every year.

If it was not because of immigrant vocations and faithful
those statistics would be even worse!

Keep in mind that parishes like St. Adalbert and St. Ann were firmly prolife for their entire history, and refused to cooperate in any way with any newspaper or broadcaster that supported legalized abortion.

How many seminarians at Orchard Lake in Michigan? How many immigrant vocations? U.S. vocations?

In 2013 there were 511 ordained priests in the U.S., up 12% in 2005. In 2011, about one-third of priests ordained in U.S. Catholic dioceses were foreign-born, up almost 50% from 1999, according to data Georgetown University compiled for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The number of foreign-born seminarians has varied between 20% to 30% over the past decade. For ex., of the 293 priests serving at metro Detroit parishes, more than 50 are foreign-born, from countries such as India, Vietnam, Mexico, the Philippines, Cameroon, Poland, and Ireland.
