Seems the son is taking this too personally. The father earned his medals and they should be kept or passed on to someone who would appreciate these medals. The son made his point about the headstone not being maintained and now needs to move on. If he wants to replace the stone, let him but the medals should not be returned just because the son is angry by what the VA did or did not do about his fathers headstone. I am sure the local VA in that town would appreciate the medals or the local VFW or affiliates. These medals should be taken away from the son who is just angry for not getting his way.
