Clean up your mess

Clean up your mess

There are 1 comment on the The Labradorian story from Jul 10, 2012, titled Clean up your mess. In it, The Labradorian reports that:

Ever go to the beaches in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Labrador City and say to yourself "why are people such slobs?" If you check any beach you will find, tires, car parts, old machinery, diapers, broken glass, paper plates, clothing, old rope from ships, and the list goes on and on.

A beach is one of the first places visitors will go when visiting a new place, what they see there gives the visitor an idea of what to expect from the people in the area. The fact that the locals have no respect for their own place leaves visitors with a feeling of, the deserve to live with this filth, they created it, no wonder the economy is so bad here. I realize everyone in the area isn't like that but who parents these kids? Anyone? Kids will do what they are allowed to do. Come on parents, take some responsibility here. It's your kids making the mess, be good parents and teach your kids something. Fix the mess you created, don't leave it to responsible people who are retired, or probably don't have any kids living in the area. Maybe the "kids" are supposed to be young adults, but it seems they don't act like it. More like pigs from the comments I've read on the state of the beaches. If the minimum fine were $1000.00 for a first offense and $2000.00 for each subsequent offense the message would get through very quickly and the money raised could help pay for restoring the beaches. You want your beaches back? Take some serious action againse these disrespectful brats. Slap them with heavy fines, have the court order them to physically do the cleanup and make any repairs to damaged goods. Put their name in the local paper and don't be afraid to shun them in your community. Maybe, just maybe they will catch on. Good luck. They can be very happy I'm not their mayor.
