Too bad Ronnie canned that staff with all that design experience. I seriously doubt those people hung around for the Ronnie canning. I seriously doubt they would ever want to work for JCP again.

Ronnie was the one who got the Manhattan property last year to get away from the Plano "design team". There is a firm belief by many that JCPenney's made a huge mistake moving their HQ to Texas and that was the beginning of their downfall. RJ's plan was to get back to where top designers actually lived, worked and dreamed. I suspect this announcement is simply a masked attempt to make it look like this is a new and exciting idea. Throwing in the "traditional JCPenney brands" into the announcement makes it sound like JCPenney was finally doing the right thing.
I don't know all the drama behind the move from NYC to Texas but I worked for the company when NYC was the HQ. The top designers MOVE to NYC, not to Texas.
