It's actually a very good place to find jobs... MUHC was voted the best place to work in Canada. Not to mention the history, food, women, Grand Prix, largest jazz and comedy and fireworks festival... character! I have been loving it here ever since I moved, winters suck but summers compeansate!

Have you traveled? This city does not compare to cities like Sydney, Tokyo, San Francisco...Nightlife and women in Montreal are not that great, People are rude and superficial. This place is overrated.

Of course Montreal can't compare to such huge cities like Sydney or Tokyo, but it's great in its own right. Sure, there are things I don't like about Montreal but I can live with it. And with exception of the ice storm back 10 years ago, our weather isnt extreme. Winters are ok because I can deal with it personally. Go back to Detroit if you don't like Montreal.

Lol Kambi, our winters aren't extreme? Were you in a coma this year by any chance? Because if that's not extreme, god help us all. I also find it funny how no one in Montreal can take any criticism without saying something like, "go back to detroit if you don't like Montreal." Anyway, Montreal is fine if you're easily entertained. If you want more out of life though, particularly when it comes to career opportunities, get out. I am.

I agree with David...I have been here long enough to know that this place is the worst for career options in Canada (Unless your from Quebec). I too am getting out of here as well.

This is not a topic...or..."Ceci n'est pas un sujet"! To say a city is good or bad is irrelevant. It depends on each person's lifestyle. Montreal is fine for artistic-inclined people whole need space and a close contact with nature, for example. It's not a major city that offers positive yet intense challenge and stimulus like New York, Tokyo or Berlin. In other words : it all depends!!!

I've lived here in MTL for 32 years (my whole life) and this city has not been good to me! there are no jobs for us anglophones unless you're willing to sacrifice all of your free time to working overtime for minimum wage and no overtime pay for a bunch of annoying, lousy immigrants who couldn't care less about you. also, everybody is very rude and becoming increasingly so. yes, it's probably the cheapest major city in north america to live in, but the wages are so low that you're stuck here because you can't even afford the moving costs!!!!! Montreal should be the next target of a nuclear Bomb!

By the way, montreal is one of the first strike targets if there is ever a nuclear strike.

That was the word 20 year.ago. I think it still is though, not sure. The St. Laurence river was a passage to the ocean for navy ships, but with the snow melting in the north, the St. Laurence is not considered vital anymore.

Educated anglophones cannot find work. The roads and overpasses are crumbling too. The city is full of third wotld immigrants who are exhausting our financial resources. Best bet is to head West, Ontario or Alberta, where hard working, educated and willing people will enjoy a standard of living ten times higher.
