St. Andrews', Tim Hortons bans complaining customer

A coffee enthusiast in St. Andrews, N.B., has learned the customer may not always be right.

After complaining three times about "burnt" decaffeinated coffee at the local Tim Hortons, Jimmy Craig is now banned for life from that outlet and the one in nearby St. Stephen.

"It was like brown, burnt water," said Craig. "I almost, you know, got sick in the sink."

Craig said he voiced his concerns to the store manager and corporate office, then got a meeting with the owner, Edwin Dow.

That's when Dow served Craig with a letter banning him under the province's trespass act.

"I was baffled," said Craig. "It didn't make any sense at all. All I wanted to do was bring it to his attention that there was a problem with the consistency of his product.

"I don't see this is a way to treat people. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?"

Dow contends his staff went the extra mile to satisfy Craig, brewing fresh pots of decaf on request.

He said Craig was upsetting his staff and he was tired of his complaints, so he banned him.

I think the customer has every right to tell Tim Hortons when there coffee is bad!!! I have had more than one "burnt" tasting cup from "Timmy's" I have had a coffee that looked orange in colour from "Timmys". They should be told when their coffee sucks and sometimes it really does!

I agree Tim Hortons coffee is burnt tasting at times! They should know when their product is not up to par.

Thank you Krista and Julia, two members of the Jimmy Craig fan club.
Yes a customer has every right to complain , but no right to be a pain in the a$$.
In Jimmy's own words, there was no pleasing him.
Word around there is that he is nothing but a whiner, even on the Job.
Maybe some patients should complain about him.

I agree also with Jim. The "20-min" fresh pot is not always true. I have gone back "SEVERAL" times in Saint John because they can't either read or don't pay attention. I even spelled the difference one day "MILK" NOT "CREAM". They don't even have the same amount of letters. When you are a regular and get anywhere from 4-7/8 Timmy's a day, then you do get pretty pissed when they continually get it wrong. I am at the point when I pull up to the drive thru I want to ask "who's taking the order and who's making the coffee?" That way I can blame the proper person for their mistake. And I don't care if anyone behind me or in the window gets upset when I open my coffee before leaving the window to make sure it is right...I want what I paid for. Sorry to hear about your luck Jimmy but I thought I was gonna be in the same boat and that would suck. Cause I do enjoy a "GOOD" Timmys.
