Are you aware of Bill C-37 that will restore the citizenship to children born between 1956 and 1955 whose parents immigrated to another country and thus left the children stateless. This Bill is combined with other aspects, but for me I want the restoration of my citizenship. My ancestors fought for Canada in WWI and WWII. My family live there. Is this not home? It is what defines you as a person? You may take your citizenship for granted, but believe me if you lost it you would care also. Bill C-37 is gaining momentum in the House and Senate, but has not clearly passed. A call for a new government could kill it. So we are not out of the woods yet. I proudly display my Canadian clothes and bumper sticker and praise this wonderful country for its clean streets, safety and beauty. Help us with your support of this Bill.

Bill C-37 restores Canadian citizenship to almost everyone that lost such citizenship under the 1947 Citizenship Act. The "Border Babies", who were born in a U.S. Hospital because it was the closest will get their citizenship back. The "Lost Canadians", who had their father take citizenship in another country, will regain their lost citizenship.
But, people like me, who came from a family that is Manitoba Metis, have at least three Loyalist ancestors, who had family members fight and die for Canada in various wars are NOT included because we were born before 1947.
Canada doesn't want us, we are just too old to be of any use. Oh well, they could so easily have included all of us, but the government came right out and said that they didn't want those born before 1947.
Nothing like governmental age discrimination.

My Dad, born and raised in New Brunswick Canada
lived 6 or so miles from the US border was drafted
in 1945 by the US Army. Now retired and living in
New Brunswick Canada is considered a US Citizen.
After reading Bill C37 he should apply for Canadian Citizenship or at least Dual Citizenship.

Paying taxes to both US and Canada sucks but a price to pay for living in a beautiful country.

I was born in the US (1948)and hope this bill will
positively affect me.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Capricorn

Don't take any risks when handling your finances today, because there are strange things going on. Someone may not be as straightforward and honest as usual, or can't explain themselves properly, which leads to misunderstandings and false assumptions. If you're spending money, make sure you're charged the right price and given the correct change. And don't let your wallet or purse out of your sight, in case you mislay it or someone nabs it.
