Why don't they increase the pay for the drivers that's a start. If the CEOs of the large trucking companies like J.B Hunt Swift Transportation and all the other companies are so concerned about a shortage, maybe they should consider wage increase. This will be the last thing they will consider. The tucking industry does not care about their drivers they are a number and some will come and some will go as long as they have a replacement to fill that seat. If there so concerned about this shortage all they need to do is treat the drivers better no brain er.

There was never a driver shortage in the first place, the only shortage was drivers that would work dirt cheap, which is what Swift and JB hunt want. by claiming there is a shortage they can try to force DOT to lax the requirements and allow for foreign trucks to run the US highways. foreign drivers mean cheap wages, look at farming, construction, and the painters.

Yeah when you got companies like Schneider offering an experienced driver .32 cents per mile I can definitely see a shortage coming. Had to look for months to find a job that paid over .40 cents. Most companies paying highly qualified driver .35-.38cpm with a few down in the low 30's like Kibbles & Bits.
