Honor Killings in Canada Reignite Cultural Debate

On June 30, four women were found dead inside a car submerged in the Rideau Canal near Kingston, Ontario.

Obviously this is still a pathological crime. Although there is the cultural context of conservative Islam, honor killings are just as crazy and abnormal as school shootings or any other heinous violence.

The article does not really get to the point, which is that honour killings are the most extreme way muslims have of controlling their genetic destiny. I do not understand this obsession with dictating where your genes will go, but until this motivation is understood, it cannot be defeated.

Randy, i think the point of the article was simply to bring the topic of honour killings to light, and to point readers to an example of a tradition clashing with modern life. It is interesting that muslims see honour killings as a way to control their genetic destiny, but saying that this is something that must be "defeated" doesn't quite sound right.
