Members of the Ontario public have until January 7, 2011 to provide views on the Supply Mix directive through the Environmental Registry. Following this, the government will consider the comments received and make a final decision. Follow the link to the Environmental Registry:

Please consider making submissions to both and feel free to send a copy to your MPP!
These are rare public consultation opportunities!
Below are a selection of comments, feel free to copy:

Under section 25.30(2) of the Electricity Act, 1998, the Minister of Energy has the authority to issue directives to the OPA for an Integrated Power System Plan. One of the goals is the production of electricity from particular combinations of energy sources.

I urge the Minister of Energy (The Hon. Brad Duguid) to direct the OPA to formulate plan that supports and promotes the purchase of energy from Non-profit, Municipal and other Publicly Owned production facilities.

The new Feed in Tariff program has the potential to generate $100 billion worth of energy revenue over the next 50 years. This program is paid for by the electricity consumers of Ontario. Because of this new program and the rapid growth in the community power sector the province must realize they do not need private speculators to own such lucrative undertakings on public land.

The province must go to extra ordinary lengths to ensure communities are ready to take ownership of these opportunities before taxable corporations acquire the remaining resources. Community control of these project helps ensure the projects are done right and communities enjoy the projects benefits.

The province must provide funding to finance the start-up costs needed to establish non-profit generators -$5000 for each upper tier municipality. 2012 is the International Year of the Co-operative. The Province must support new non-profit Renewable Energy Co-operative Development initiatives ...

Yeh. This is no joking matter!
The Japanese nuclear plant material that they dumped into the atmosphere / environment has to come down sometime and Canada is down wind.
That whole island / area is so unfortunate.
Makes me wonder how much radioactive material we will import with the 'goods' from their country???
I feel so sorry for their children.

It is better to hate apathy than to love things.
Hating 'apathy' motivates and empowers;
Loving 'things' increases the landfill and robs one of true joyfillment.
