Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has backed steps by coalition premiers to axe public spending and bureaucrats, after Labor fanned fears of massive commonwealth job losses under a federal coalition government.

No surprises there if they can prove that Labor has put on more staff than they need, then jobs should be cut to lower government spending.
