I couldn't agree with your post more! I have family that takes advantage of the system too! I have no respect for that<quoted text>You will find that different tribes have different membership requirements. The ones with $(even around here) tend to close up. You have to prove in many that you have tribal connections(that you have the cultural connection to your tribe). If you don't even know what tribe it is, you likely are not connected in a way that would be deemed significant. In our family, they managed to keep it 'secret' for nearly a century. Now, of course, we are all curious, but we can't claim that we have any cultural insights or social disadvantages as many tribal members (reservation indians) have experienced.
You are 20! I had no idea. I have an almost 20 yo son. Rather than try to get on with a tribe for the benes, stop, figure out what you can do with your life for yourself and move forward like every other able bodied healthy young American with everything in their future. Then, for your own enlightenment, learn about who you are and where you come from. Personal history is important. Connect there if you want. It seems like your family connections are messed up, you may find some 'kin' that you can embrace. But don't do it for any reason but history and family.(excuse my preaching, I have greedy family members who are busily trying to work the system and it is disgusting the rest of us. And it isn't working anyway:))

Well I don't give my opinion about it to other Witnesses. I just have never done it. I have passed out WTS mags the month of December; but I will not show up at someones door Christmas Eve or day. |

I have gone out in the month of December and passed out watchtowers. I have not, gone to someones house Christmas Eve or day. I wouldn't tell other Witnesses what to do with their service time, because I wouldn't apperciate being told I should do the door to door work on Christmas. |

This is true! I am very much into healing the body naturally. I go to a natural health homeopathic MD who is married to a chiropractor. They share a medical office. They make such a great team and can do wonders for a sick person. I am not against modern medical care though. I will just always try something naturally first though. I have an aunt who suffers from chronic pain and is on to many meds. I feel she is taking years off of her life. It is so sad. |

With a hugely successful casino and resort here, I don't know that those on our local 'rez' do need a lot of assistance-but that being said, I don't see much of the rez but the shopping mall area and the huge casino and hotel complex they are now building. The Snohomish are part of the Tulalip Tribes. http://www.tulaliptribes-nsn.gov/ My family is Modoc, and they are kind of a lost little group. I am blessed that I am not impacted by what has happened to them as a people in my daily life. If you ever do come out here, look me up:) I'll take you out for lunch. |
I didn't realize the casino was that successful. I know about them being a part of the Tulalip Tribes. I will be going out there, because I have an older sister I have only met once and that was 16 years ago! She has three kids of her own. Long story there. Is there away for you to give me your email addy, on here in privet? I will give you mine too. It would be neat to meet someone who knows the area.:) |

Oh, the funny thing about our little exchange is, I went online and found out that 'my' tribe now actually has a website(I've looked before and there was barely any historic info, much less current!)! There are only 200 left in OK, and about 600 in Oregon. They are recognized as a tribe, but I don't think they are one of the 'rich' tribes at all (or I am sure they would have folks clamoring to join up!), but I am really excited to know they are enough of a group that I can learn and get a better sense of my own family history. So I am blessed that we even had the conversation!
And I hope you do look me up. I have a sister I love and treasure so much-I hope you can build a relatinship with yours-its one of my most important connections after my own children. |
That is neat! I am really getting more into chronology. I love to here about the past and my family ancestry. I am also proud to have native heritage, as a part of me. I love history altogether. I am looking forward to having a relationship with my older sister. It will be easier, because I will be moving Northern Cali soon. My two younger sisters live there. I know how important the relationship with a sister is. I am really close to my two younger ones, and miss them so much. We were raised together though. I do hope to build some kind of kinship with my older sis. Thanks for your email addy. I will email you mine.:) |

My sister is in Chicagoland now! I just realized we are both close to each others sisters. I just talked to mine for an hour or so today-about how we are teaching our kids morality and how to be responsible and balanced. And about adoption, our mother, celebrity disasters, weather, husbands, books, disciplining our kids, raising them to be honest, children in Africa, AIDS in
Africa, education, Oprah--it was quite a chat.:) My mom is going out there on the 26th-I am a bit envious, but I sure wouldn't want to spend time with both of them at the same time. I get along with both great, but they are just on each others nerves all the time. Family dynamics--fun stuff. Mom is coming out tomorrow for the day to visit. |
|
WOW! What a coincidence!!
Looks like you about covered most topics in that hour! LOL! I have been known to do the same. ;) Believe me I know all about family dynamics; as much as I don't hold back from speaking my mind, I am known usually as the one always trying to keep the peace. I think it's because family means so much to me. |

We had a great visit today, mom and me. She came for lunch and stayed till the apple pie after dinner. No deep conversations, mostly discussed family stuff, her job, my kids. Went to LaConner, a cute local touristy town and looked at all the cute stores for a couple of hours.
We had pork loin roast for dinner w/mash pot. and carrots and homemade biscuits-I tried a new recipe - Buttery Farm Biscuits. I think its important to use real butter in biscuits, and this recipe as easy-no waste, no rolling and cutting out and floury countertop. http://www.recipezaar.com/17227 Nothing burned. It was all good. My sis gave me a recipe for spaghetti called Jo Mamas that I am going to try when we finish up all the roast. I am vowing to leave off the canned sauce from now on. |

JEREMIAH 10

THAT WOULD BE THE BIBLE...

I only use real butter too! Thanks for the link for the link. The pork loin roast sounds good. I don't eat pork; but I have a friend who would love that! I will cook it for company. |
|
Why did you post Jeremiah 10? Do you want us to read the entire chapter or a specific scripture in Jeremiah 10? |
|
|
WOW,
Are you talking about Jeremiah 10:1-4? Are you one of Jehovah's Witnesses? |
|
Most people that come to this forum are Bible readers so I think they know that.:) |

Just read this article now, I had no clue it was published. Funny all the comments that transpired from it, mostly based on my upbringing. I am in no way sad or whining about my parents way of raising me, it was what they thought best. I thought the article might promote my boyfriend's and my little shop. We had an excellent xmas, it all went well. It's not my favourite holiday, but we enjoyed our meal and the fireplace. As for Ray Liota, I use Trozzi because it is my real, legal last name...unfortunately. Since I know exactly who Ray Liota is, I consider the 'source' with his comments and post no reply to them. As to all the JW's and JW opposers, go to another site, this one was about turkeys, not chickens :)
