Kiwanis Christmas Light Parade is Sat.

Merlin McGee chugged along the parade route in a train locomotive he built especially for the Deming Kiwanis Club during last year's Kiwanis annual Christmas Light Parade in Deming. Full Story

Hat off to Merlin McGee for helping to keep Christmas Light Parade going. I am not sure of the parade route though. We almost missed seeing it last year because of the way the route was advertised in the newspaper. Will the parade pass on Poplar St. next to the new court house building and go up?
Many of us were confused last year.

BMX Park is across the street from Amigos on Poplar Street on the east side of town, west of the golf course.

Kudos to all the entries in the Deming Christmas Light Parade. Very beautiful. I was wondering why the old parade route was done away with. Use to come up Poplar to Court House Park and down Gold St. to Spruce St. and then come down Silver St. in front of Museum to the court house. Too many cars going everywhere once parade went down Diamond St. while the rest of us were waiting by Fina Station for it to come down on Platinum.

Centennial makes me think of an "old fashioned Christmas". Christmas carolers "Dickens style" adorned in authentic Victorian attire caroling down main street around the gas lights. Santa reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas", afterwards eating cookies and hot chocolate; hot cider, horse trolley rides, strolling down main street looking at holiday window displays, admiring the main street Christmas decorations, toy soldiers, Christmas trains, antique shops, Christmas music, meeting Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, telling Santa what you want for Christmas, taking pictures with Santa, Christmas trees, nativity scenes, luminaries and a Christmas parade!

Hope the City puts up the Holiday decorations down Pine and Gold Streets before the Christmas Light Parade on Sat. Last year they were up by Thanksgiving. They made the holidays that more festive. The downtown was all decked out with Christmas lights in most every business window. It looked very beautiful. Keep the spirit of Christmas alive. Last years downtown looked awesome for the holidays!
