Police Taser axe-wielding man
Halton Police Tasered a 53-year-old Georgetown man who was coming toward officers Thursday wielding an axe.
Police say about 1:30 p.m. a man drove his vehicle into the police parking area at the Guelph St. Georgetown police station, got out of the car, and set an axe on his roof.
Two nearby officers approached the man and spoke with him. The man then grabbed the axe and began advancing on the officers, raising the axe above his head.
A sergeant used the Taser on the man and officers were able to take him into custody without further incident.
The man was transported to hospital and admitted under the provisions of the Mental Health Act.
