Halton Region sees economic growth

We've seen significant growth in our business community in 2012. In April, I joined Mayor Rick Bonnette and Councillors from the Town of Halton Hills to celebrate the start of construction of the Toronto Premium Outlets retail centre located at Trafalgar Rd.

To whom it may concern
( Rick Bonnette MAYOR of Halton Hills)(Calloway REIT)
REGARDING 13722 Steeles Avenue owner Calloway REIT & 14030 Steeles Avenue owner Barbara Lorbeer
We are very concerned citizens and hope this matter will not be taken lightly.
We have been part of Halton Hills for a long time,
we understand the need for growth and progress, but we thought peoples safety would be priority one.
We ask that you please review attached pdf file regarding the safety for citizens to and from
existing residence and commercial business of the Halton Hills Gateway.
As you can see in the drawing a very simple solution...I can not believe nobody thought of this
or was concerned about citizens safety usually safety is a major concern.
Common sense would be to allow an easement to the new 5 lane road built between the two properties
the planners and builders and the board of review must not have realized the dangers involved in this new road
and intersection being so close to an existing driveway.
I have spoken with PCL the builders of this massive project regarding this matter since Calloway REIT has
not been in touch or has delayed meetings. PCL told us that the 5 lane road into the mall will be a unassumed road
and that this is a matter for the Region ...how convenient for the developer. I ask how difficult can it be to
turn a simple 3 way stop into a 4 way stop during the building procees and why didn’t anyone think of this
for peoples safety. The 3 way stop would line up directly with our existing parking lot according to Calloways plans.
For our staff and customers to try and dart in and out of our driveway to beat traffic would be suicidal.
We understand widening the road (Steeles) is a must...but peoples safety is much more important
we can only hope there will not be any deaths due to the carelessness of city planning
can you imagine the headlines...”Mayor was notified of the dangers in advance and did nothing about it”
Can you please look into this matter further or better yet, we would like to set up a meeting with yourself
or the proper party to discuss this matter further.
We are all for Building a better Halton, but does that mean you forget who helped get you there?
