The PMO $100K+ Club:Tories lift veil on staffer salary range

In the wake of the recent revelation of that now notorious $90 K gift from then-PMO chief of staff Nigel Wright to then-Conservative Senator Mike Duffy, it's worth noting that, according to documents tabled in the House earlier this week, just 1 in 5 of Wright's now former colleagues are making more than $100,000 or more for their service to the PM.
Perhaps even more eyebrow-raising, however, is the fact that nearly as many take home an annual paycheque of $50,000 or less.
In response to a written question from Liberal MP Frank Valeriote, the government revealed that, as of February 1, 2013, the Prime Minister's Office employed 91 full-time staffers, 21 of whom are -- or, at least, were -- on track to make $100,000 or more, and 19 earning $50,000 or less.
With a wage gap like that, can an #OccupyLangevin movement be far behind?
Interestingly, when NDP MP Tyrone Benskin submitted a similar query in 2011, the government ultimately declined to provide the details of the upper end of the PMO payroll, citing privacy concerns.
Apparently, that's no longer an issue.
The complete response, as filed with the Commons Clerk on Tuesday:
