I would never begrudge paying our police officers a decent wage for the job they do. It is a stressful one at the best of times. But come on, how much money do they need to make? A rookie starts off at just over $60,000 a year, and three years later they are making more than $90,000 — before overtime, court appearances or paid duty? To take money out of my pocket to buffer them up another 8.55% is just unreasonable. The middle class blue collar worker takes the hit. Our unelected premier says Ontarians are not saving enough for their retirement. Well, hello! That’s not surprising — there isn’t enough left of our paycheques to put money away after we feed the overpaid politicians, pay the Hydro moneypit and the gas company.
