Fire crews are on scene battling a house fire in Brampton.

The fire started at about 3:45 p.m. in the basement of the home on Crescent Hill Dr., near Dixie Rd. and Queen St. E., but has since engulfed the entire house.

Everyone was able to get out of the house safely and no one was injured.

Because of the large amount of smoke, Peel police are evacuating four houses surrounding the home on fire: two immediately behind, and two on either side of the house. More homes may be evacuated.

Crescent Hill Dr. will remain closed for a period of time, as fire crews will have to check the house’s structure after putting out the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known
