Not much point in moving a the massive plant in Halton Hills to Quebec now is there? The future of the Ottawa Neilson Dairy Plant is somewhat in question as it is close to Montreal where Saputo already has a couple of it's own Plants.
It is most likely unfeasible to move operations to Quebec when it is the Ontario fluid milk supply that Saputo is tapping in to. Who the hell is going to drive milk south for 6 hours to Toronto... or maybe the small Dairyland Plant down there is going to start pushing out an extra 1,000,000 litres of milk a day. Not too likely.

EU trade sour deal for Canadian dairy

A new trade deal between Canada and the European Union could breathe life into Canadian fisheries

and forestry,

but the dairy industry thinks the idea stinks worse than old cheese.

Tomorrow, new cheese regulations come into effect to ensure Canadian cheese is made with Canadian milk.

But these regulations are being challenged in court by multinational cheese-makers

Saputo, Parmalat and Kraft,

who want to continue manufacturing cheese using cheaper,

imported milk derivatives called "milk protein concentrates."
