If you live in Georgetown, good luck finding work, or in the long run make enough to afford to live here. 1km of failing industrial area, filled with low paying jobs that just barely pay for the cost of living.

If you cannot afford a vehicle to escape Georgetown to find work with a more reasonable wage, you’re hurting. trust me, 20 years trying to survive off the meager wages of Armstrong has done me nothing. And with the steady increase of rent, it’s a losing battle. Georgetown is a loss, all the develop areas are used for houses to feed the regions greed for property taxes. No new factorys, just a bunch of low wage strip malls and houses.

Oh I so agree ricker.

Yes the Mayor is thrilled about the new super stores that are opening up in/near Milton. At 10.25 an hour, and if you don’t have a car to pay 1.30+++ per litre for gas, good luck getting there.

What we need is less houses being built and more business who offer real living wages to move into this town. The companies know you are desperate to work in town so your lucky if you can get a decent wage, never mind with benefits of any kind.

We are just a town that people sleep in and work outside of. And as long as your at work you might as well shop in the city you work in at lunch or after work.

What will your family have to give up to pay for these new taxes?
Very few people have money in their pockets today that they don't already need for something else--like food on their table, rent, daycare, transportation, clothing, etc.
Ontario is already an expensive enough place to live.
This isn't about visions of town building or transit expansion.
Folks, don't be misled, this is about finding new ways to raise your taxes.
They want a sales tax, a vehicle tax, a gas tax, a parking tax, a payroll tax, toll lanes-- the list goes on and on, and on.
Tax, tax, tax, spend, spend, spend.
