AND FURTHER THAT Council authorize staff to commence the removal of debris from 89 Armstrong Avenue, a property in contravention of a Property Standards Order issued pursuant to Section 15.2 of the Building Code Act, S.O. 1992, Chapter 23, as amended;
AND FURTHER THAT all costs incurred by the Town or its agents in taking action to clear the debris from the site be added to the tax collectors roll and collected as a priority lien.
On August 8, 2007, the Town received a complaint regarding the condition of an industrial zoned property located at 89 Armstrong Avenue in Halton Hills. Staff inspections on August 8, 2007 and November 5, 2007 revealed accumulations of salvage, scrap metal, scrap wood, inoperative vehicles and disused or discarded equipment, litter and debris on the premises in contravention of the Town’s Property Standards By-law No. 2004-0069.
On November 15, 2007, the Town’s Officer issued a Property Standards Order and the owner was requested to comply with the Order no later than December 29, 2007. The property owner appealed the Order before the Town’s Property Standards Committee on January 10, 2008. The Committee ruled on the evidence presented by all parties to the proceedings, modified the Order, and granted a time extension to the property owner extending the date of compliance to May 30, 2008.
