A Pickering man was giving Daytona 500 drivers a run for their money early Sunday morning when he was caught going 144 kilometres an hour on the Don Valley Pkwy.
The 22-year-old was pulled over at Wynford Dr., just north of Eglinton Ave. E. at 4:30 a.m. The speed limit in the area is 90 kilometres an hour.
The man already had a suspended licence, and will be suspended for another 97 days for the combination of stunt driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.
Last year, Toronto police issued 381 suspensions for speeding and stunt driving.
The place for speed is on a racetrack like Daytona, not the roadways of Toronto, said Staff. Sgt. Brian Bowman in a statement. You decide your speed, physics decides whether you live or die
