Man charged after 54 prepaid credit cards went missing from Guelph store
GUELPH A security guard following a shopper out to his car has led to a Toronto man facing charges. On Monday at around 2 p.m., Guelph Police took a call from a loss prevention officer at a business on Stone Road. Officers said the security guard witnessed a man fill his pockets with a large number of prepaid gift cards and then walk out of the store. The guard then followed the man to his car and took down a description of it before it drove off. The loss prevention officer gave the description to police and the vehicle was located a short time later. Officers say 54 prepaid Vanilla MasterCard/Visa gift cards were found, valued at $2,125. A 26-year-old Toronto man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and instrument for use in forging credit cards. He was held for a bail hearing |
