A Hamilton woman was arrested Tuesday night on charges of stealing makeup and biting a cop, police say.
A woman went into a pharmacy on Cannon Street East and Wellington Street North around 7 p.m. A loss prevention police officer saw her pick out several makeup products, walk a couple of aisles over, and stuff them down her shirt, police say.
The officer followed the woman outside and identified himself as store security. Before he could arrest her, she ran off, police say.
The officer caught up with her and tried to arrest her again but police say she resisted and bit him on the arm. Additional officers were called in to subdue her.
While officers were putting the culprit into a police cruiser, she kicked the rear door and it struck one of the them. Two officers received minor injures, police say. More than $100 of makeup was recovered and returned to the store.
A 33-year-old Hamilton woman was charged with assault, assaulting a police officer, possession under $5,000 and theft under $5,000. She was held for a bail hearing
